I really don't want to pry, but did the car have to go due to it's history for
your wife? If you get the car to start run and drive away, you may rue
the day you let a now rare and desirable car go!

...ah!
It'll be going to a good home at least - the CX will have many 'stable-mates' as Danny has got a barn full of CXs (20-30 odd!)

My knowledge of CX is elementary. It sounds as if most CX people know each other!
this will be interesting then, a guy on the Citroen car club forum 'won't name names' sold /pxd his white cx that needed serious welding to get it through an MOT, then it appears as a relatively corrosion free cx for 3995
this was a few years back mind

no doubt after a thorough recomissioning it will appear again

I know what you mean Neil - I saw that too.
...it'll probably be put in the barn with his other CXs and he might do something with it.

I remember that when dad last spoke to Danny that he said he 'might' start to get some CXs out and restore them.

Hi Andrew,

Sorry for taking so long to reply after all your posts, have worked a 12h shift on Monday, came home burnt out!

As regards to the CX' and me, the car does not belong to, me but was left as part of Mikes estate to his son Steve. At the time of Mikes death last summer he owned a E reg CX GTI, XM 2.1 VSX estate auto, plus the CX as I have mentioned in this thread.

Mike was my wife, Julia's first husband and over the last 5 years, Mike & Steve became good friends of mine, this may all seem a little bizzare but that's what happened. Mike Steve Julia and me went to 3 Citroen rallies in the C5. Mikes other passion was the Great Central Railway, which I had first told Mike of! We went to several events on the railway (all of us) and had a great time together.

After Mikes death, Steve offered me the XM which is in excellent condition,
sadly I had to turn down the kind offer as I have no place to store the car.
The CX GTI has already gone to Danny at WHM along with the XM.
The XM is in lovely condition, I could hardly beleive how good the quality of the internal trim is. It looks lit's only been used for a couple of years!

The CX 2.5 pallas has remained in the garage all this time, although Danny has purchased the car from Steve, he's not been able to get over, it' quite a trip to Nottingham from his place. Danny asked Steve if he could get the car going, so as to make it easier to get it on a trailer, but Steve isn't 'into' cars, so said I'd help, but I'm no CX expert as no doubt you all can tell!

So, that's the background to this one, I said that all cars have a story!

I'll get some 'photo's of the CX onto the forum before it goes.

Thanks again, samjmann

I wondered if the sight of Mike's cars meant they needed to be banished
asap no matter what became of them! It would be nice to see pictures
of the Cx and hear progress with it going/running again if only to drive
onto a trailer!

It sounds like the Xm is still around? There's a keen following of these
here too if it does need a home as well!
