Last night I went out to my activa to take her for a quick spin. But the car wouldn't lift at all. The stop light was lit but wouldn't go out.

The car was just below normal height. I then tried to drop the car to lowest setting, with the intention of undoing the bleed screw on the pressure regulator. And then putting the car up to full height. (This has helped me raise limp cars before).

On selecting low, the back end slowly went down, but the front stayed up!
On selecting full height, the car would rise very slowly, when I mean slowly I never got it to full height, the back would move, the front wouldn't. I got annoyed after waiting for 3 minutes for the car to rise, so I let the back come up to normal height.

I released the bleed screw, and it made a hiss, but the car was still very slow at rising.

There is plenty of LHM. And this is the first time I have had this problem.
I tried priming the pump from the hose on the lhm reservoir, but that didn't make any difference either, it wasn't taking any oil.

I decided to chance it, and took the car for a short run, and after half a mile, the light went of, and normal service was resumed, the suspension had come up to normal operating height and normal "comfort".

One thing I didn't notice this time was the car shuffing from side to side. It normally does this at idle. But not so last night. On the test run, the anti-roll was working as before. I have new roll corrector link rods and mounting blocks ready to fit to the car as well.

I welcome all suggestions.

Regards

Robert
Hello there...

Im having a similar problem with my activa.. The height correctors seem to run smoothly. Now, did you "change" the pump? Or did you take a "chance" on driving the car and it came up nicely again?? I have a spare pump lying around, perhaps I should try changing too... When priming the pump in the car, it takes in some LHM, but it seems to run just as slow as the flow in the main return pipe. Im Norwegain and I might have got the text wrong.. The weather is terrible here. It would be nice to have a clue before starting fidling outside under the car again, concidering changing the front height corrector valve

Stop lights and front is dead..

Unread post by HaraldG »

The front end of the car is dead. Want rise ore fall. And the STOP lights want come of.. I have canged the hydroactive valve (front) as it was faulty (I scanned with lexia). There is not a lot of air in the tank, and theres plenty LHM. Filters are clean too.. It takes about 8-10 sek to fill the main akumulator, is that too slow? Can it be the pump? :?

Hi Harald,

I disconnected the wiring from the front electrovalve and that made the front suspension work properly.

I also have a problem of the car shuffling from side to side now. I need to check the pressure of the Activa acumulator spheres to ensure that I have enough pressure in this part of the hydraulic system.

Hoping you can get your car working properly soon.

Do you mean your pressure regulator cycle times are 8-10 seconds?
If so it sounds like there is a leak somewhere, on an ant sink car they sould be well over a minute, the pressure is going somewhere or the PR itself is defective its very rare a pump just fails like this unless its air locked :? .

anti roll bar rod

Unread post by HaraldG »

Hello there :)

I have canged the hydra actiive valve in the front as the old one was broken (scanned with lexia). Ive also tried picking out the the HA-fuse, but there was no change..

I cant hear the pressure regulator "engaging" at all. It just takes 8-10 sek before I can release pressure (before I can hear it hissing) by opening the de-pressure-bolt on the PR. I could jack up the car and make it stay in the highest possition on its own. I then heard the regulator cycles times with about 40-50 seks between. Only problem was I couldnt make the car come down again. It was stuck "up there" untill I left the heigt control lever over night..

I have now greased and moved the mechanics for the front height corrector. Some linkages felt stuck. Not by dirt or rust but by some "opstacle"..

When I finaly could move it, it looks as the anti-roll-bar-rod (blue arrows) is touching the linkages (red arrow) and ,perhaps, has preventet free moving.

Now, is this how it is supposed to be?? :?:

I can`t reach the anti roll bar rod with the plastic rod after popping it of either.. So I cant mount it back on unless I move the anti roll bar rod..

I hope you can tell me how it is supposed to be.. I would love getting the car back on the road (snow) again :)

With the link off and wheels dangling in the air than I believe the rod will foul on the height corrector mechanism so this will be normal.

To get the link back on, jack up the end of the Activa Ram using a trolley jack until the end of the white link and the ball meet each other. Then the link can be clipped back on.

So long as there is no fouling between the rod and the mechanism at all suspension settings, there is no problem.

I shall now visit and study your new thread Harald! Hopefully I'll be able to post a useful reply in due course :D
