That’s how eBay should be. Engine ordered at 1209 yesterday, arrived 1410 today. Same postage for me as anyone else. It came from just north of Manchester. So he has his engine and clutch so hopefully he shall have the car going again very soon. I shall take the engine to the workshop him and his mates have which is a few miles away, but only because it is now in the boot of the xantia being the only car it fits in, then he is on his own. I will not be lifting a spanner to help now. I only volunteered to source the engine as I have far too much time on my hands so had the time to do it. He is moaning about fuel consumption on the mx5 so been told well fix the 107 then or fix the skoda which needs body panels, and he bought a donor complete car the right colour and his vts is stripped of wings, bonnet, and one door.

I think it wouldn’t be that heavy. Me and the delivery man lifted it from his van into the xantia with absolutely no problems

Apparently the serial car wrecker and his brother in law the train engineer are changing the 107’s engine tomorrow, or perhaps I should say today now starting at 9 am and aiming to have it running by 1pm. 4 hours for an engine swap? I think they are being optimistic, but I know of a lad on the c1oc who did a clutch on one in 2 hours. Watch this space tomorrow to see if the 107 returns home.
Gabby is really proving herself a real worker. I’m not long home with her performing a rescue mission on Shaun’s gfs fiesta, which skidded on black ice and ended up down a bank, luckily undamaged, which is more than I can say for her nerves! One of his pals had tried to bull it up the bank with a polo diesel and failed so off I went to try with Gabby. The mate had put his rope on the back of the polo and had no traction just spun his wheels. I did the usual that I have done on a few occasions now and put the rope on gabbys front and used reverse gear and out she came first go. Gabby enjoys a challenge! Although Shaun doesn’t get my cars he has driven them all with me in it. 3 of his mates have had a go of Gabby, and they are all seriously impressed. Which isn’t bad, a 20 year old xantia td impressing 22 year old guys who own said polo tdi, a fabia 1.9 tdi, and an Astra Gsi. Two of them want to buy her for a winter car, the answer was no. One threatened to steal it, he would have to go into hiding though as if I found him I would have to kill him lol

She really is proving herself to be one of my best buys ever Jim, despite the MOT mannie wounding her side after a couple of weeks. I know the patch repair is just that, a patch that is a bit unsightly, but when the better weather comes the patch will get a bit of cosmetic surgery done. She will be left scarred there but better than wounded. Towing that fester up the bank was quite hard on the clutch, but still no signs of slipping despite having done over 6000 miles mostly stop start use since I picked her up. The way she’s going you would never have had to do the clutch lol

The word from son and son in law is engine is in place with new clutch in, all bolts mounts etc replaced, just electrics to do and headlights front bumper and wheels left to do tomorrow and they have just stopped for the day. They say another hour would see it going but they don’t have an hour to give it today now. 6 hours in and one to go ain’t bad for an engine swap I would say.

That's not bad going, but my bro, his mate and me did a Saab 900 T16 engine swap in 7 hours from driving the car into the bay, and driving it out again! This included copious tea and cigarette breaks!
