And being a 107 can service it in 5 minutes, which includes a tea break! The boys might need two tea breaks changing the engine lol

Pretty sure they didn't even change the pollen filter. Plus had the audacity to charge me to replace the plastic cap on the rear wiper (to the tune of £7) and a side repeater that had water in and had turned white (£15) as well...car was still under warranty too so I for some reason thought they would just be sorted!

Unsurprisingly I didn't go back there next year...

Well due to my left leg misbehaving making clutch control difficult and bigpug still not running correctly I have been using lilpug for a week or so. At least Gabby is getting a rest, she has done over 5000 miles in 3 months! I’m total comfort and total reliability. Lilpug is actually amazingly good for doing deliveries in, being smaller, nippy and auto. However she is really hard on fuel compared to Gabby. Lilpug only does about 200 miles from full to about 1/4 and then takes near £45 to fill it. Gabby does near 500 miles on 40litres veg, cost £31.40 and about £25 diesel. My ideal car for deliveries would be a 205 3door with a 1.9 xud turbo connected to an automatic box. Anyone want to convert lilpug for me?

I’m having problems getting an engine sent to me. Two eBay sellers so far 1 claiming to offer free UK delivery, and the other offering UK delivery for £50 have let me down. Both were given my postcode and asked if it is included in their delivery area, both said yes, then once I have ordered and paid said engines both asked for extra, in one case 50 and the other 100 to deliver, claiming I am Highlands and Islands. I have had my money refunded on both occasions, but it’s bloody annoying that when asked before ordering that there is no extra charge. I refuse to buy from or use any courier which rips me off to that amount.

That’s another engine ordered and paid for, a 16000 mile engine out of a 2012 car. Ours is a 2012 car so should be good. The seller confirmed the price including delivery before ordering so hope this one is ok. If not then it will have to be the local scrappy who has a low mileage one but at a considerably higher price

Fingers crossed Davie...

Is a 2012 one the later engine that qualifies for free tax?

Tax is usually free ;-)

But don't say that too loud as you might give them ideas....

Sorry if this sounds terribly blunt (it's not meant to)...But why has sourcing and arranging delivery of the engine seemingly become your problem?

Walk away and leave Captain Engine Destroyer to figure it out for himself. Best he empties his own wallet and wastes his own time as a result of his total negligence rather than yours.

Shouldn't this read "Shaun is having problems getting an engine sent to him because I've washed my hands of his lack of mechanical sympathy"...

Yes I’m too soft. He asked to use the xantia, he was told to go away. I value my engines too much to let him loose on any of my cars. Think he has found out a mx5 is not the most practical car in the world. I said I would source an engine so that’s done. It is on its way. He got a clutch himself it’s here. Once the engine is here he is on his own. One reason I sourced an engine is I have a financial interest in the car. It’s his money that has bought the engine. Finding him in the woods in a burnt out 107 may well be a good thing!

That was the second facelift Jim, mid to late 2012 I think. Ours is an early 2012 and the government has the brass neck to charge 20quid for road tax!
