I didn't notice one to be honest but it does have a full size spare wheel.
how hard can it be to wire an up down switch into the boot anyway?
I could probably retrofit one from a car at a scrappy.
or just go round the front and press the down button.

what amazes me is that it takes time for the heating fan to respond
to selection controls but the suspension reacts very quickly indeed.
almost instantly. I love the remote folding mirrors to.

Just had a look at the pictures Nigel - Great Reg if you are a Trekkie (USS).

Not to be the Harbinger of Doom, but I think they have mir-represented it slightly, as there isn't any leather upholstery and no CD Autochanger as it left the factory. One way to check is to look a) under the driver's seat for the autochanger unit, or under the front passenger seat (there is a drawer there if no CD changer) or finally in the boot attached to the side in a covered square appendage. Mine was under the driver's seat though on my MKII.

There isn't any lane departure warning system on this model as you mentioned the rumbling devices in the seats - the seats don't have a massage function either (only on the leather option on the C5 X7).

Car Tax £185 a year on this one (158 g/km)

You have the directional Xenons - which are very good, having had these on my old Mark II.

Nope car tax is free for me I don't pay it I'm exempt...... but not on the 2cv unfortunately..

Re: CD - just a single CD in the front of the player Nigel. It is an RD4 system and these came in 3 flavours. Some can play CD Text (the text that scrolls, showing the artist and track title etc.) and some could play MP3 CDs ( you could burn an MP3 CD and get over a hundred MP3 tunes onto the CD).

The models have a marking on the rear label of the unit and are:
N1: No CD Text, no MP3
N2: With CD Text but no MP3
N3: With CD Text and MP3 Playback.

Your option will be either an N1 or N2 as the N3 has a Dual Radio Tuner and I know from the specs on your VIN that it states Mono Tuner, in case this helps.

I love these face lift C5s ..

You dont have to do a forced re gen.. drive at 80mph on motorway in 4th gear for 10 mins.. there sorted. Once done do not be afraid to take her up to the red line once in a while. This WILL keep the system clear and free flowing. The 2.0 16v 138 is a good choice. Mums c5 x7 has it and i was mighty impressed with an average 47mpg.

The 2.0 16v 138 is just about as good as the 8v. Oil service. Can belts arent hard to do as the inlet cam is driven by a hidden chain so the cam belt drives the fuel pump and exhaust cam and therefore no more complex then an xud or hdi 8v..

I too love the facelift design - they still look really nice today and always catch my attention when I see one.

I never had any issues with mine and that was a 138 HDi. Had the DPF additive topped up once and no issues at all throughout my ownership with her except a very small hole in the turbo hose once - which depleted all power and made it sound like a rasping bag of spanners. Needed towing to the garage due to no power and cutting out, but once they replaced the pipe - USS Enterprise in steroids.

One thing I forgot to mention Nigel - don't be afraid to whack your foot down on the brake if you get into a bad icy patch, The ABS / ESP/ ASR system is fantastic. One winter I was taking my sister home after Christmas, going down a 1:10 hill. Black ice, came to the bottom of the hill at the junction, ABS going mad and nowhere to go except left or right (bank straight ahead). Shouted the 'Brace Brace Brace' airplane warning and just turned the steering wheel to go right and crossed fingers, foot still full on brake. Miraculously, once I turned the wheel to 3 o'clock the car just seemed to take over and right itself and sure enough turned right and off we went. As the car turned into the direction I was steering, we missed the bank by about 6 inches!

So always steer where you want the car to go. It can be strange going from a car without this type of ESP system to one with. Hopefully you'll never need to use it, but it's good to know it is there doing it's thing just in case!

Not sure what this is but yes I do like the rear lights a lot and the paintwork is so good

I could see my reflection in it at ten feet away, even the chrome trim is spotless.

it almost seems a sin to park it on my open air driveway. guess I'll be doing some strict polishing
of this car to keep it nice and shiny. might even buy a cars cover-cover like the one I have for the 2cv
£250 jobby. and watch the weather forecasts a bit more often.

Insurance is sorted it cost me £353.00 with NCB protection. fully comp. and a 500 excess. from the opera singer dude, the annoying rats wanted
£545.00 fully comp.

Tax has to be paid for six months £101.00 because the docs need to be sent back to change the taxation class to disabled.

I'm not to happy about the fact that Christmas expenditure the MOT and Insurance are all going to collide next year.

so I might have her re-MOT'd mid summer time and just pay the get out fee of £45 for the insurance and have that

started in the usual month of March next year. well after the festivities have ended. I do like my bills spread out a bit across the year.

and a summer time MOT is always the favourite as opposed to a winter one.

Thanks for the driving tip Givemeabreak. I had a recent situation in the xantia lost the back end when I slammed on the brakes on the A14 a truck in front had a blow out and slammed his anchors on the car behind him slammed his on and so on and so on it was very very foggy.

I steered into the skid at 40mph and the back straightened out lovely and that's without abs. and all the add-ons

I have a lot of learning and reading to do with this car and it will probably take me a while to get used to modern motoring in such a nice motor.

as for the difference in ride between the two the C5 wins hands down but in saying that I always found the suspension to be great on the estate
when new spheres were fitted for the first week then it seemed to fade and get harsher by the day almost as though the spheres were leaking a bit.

They were last replaced in Oct 2013 so its time for a recharge about now. The C5 was test driven on a rough bumpy 60mph straight country lane
I let go of the steering at 40mph and it tracked straight and true for about 5 seconds didn't falter one bit no pulling or wandering at all.

And boy what a difference to ride comfort I can't wait to collect her from the dealers next week. one of the best Christmas prezzies Ive ever had

Nigel - there should be one out of the four bolts that is anti theft. There is one of these on each wheel and you should have the locking wheel nut supplied with the car (make sure they do give you this. It is by default usually stored in the spare wheel along with the wheel brace and jack)

There are many places that have the adapter they just bung on to do these wheels - all the usual big fitting places have them.

Nope Marc as I said no locking wheel nuts at all and no key either. I checked for it
in the spare wheel well.
I took the centre out of the nearside rear wheel and they all looked like standard bolts.
will have to check them all when I go back for the car.
I do know Citroen wants about 45 quid for a key if needed.
and I have heard of some people removing them on their cars.
