Re: Notices..what have you spotted?
Our local scrapyard, long deceased, had a sign on the gate 'Guards patrolling, survivors will be prosecuted'. I liked John Betjeman, don't go for poetry much but you could understand his. He did some lovely films about the West country that were used as colour test films in the '60s.
Just a 'bye the way' when he was doing 'Metroland' he visited the home of Len Rawle a brilliant organist who had the organ from one of the Leicester square cinemas built in his house. I found out later that my wife used to work with him in an insurance company in the city. He became quite famous as a result of that film and came to the notice of Yamaha organs and worked for them for many years. Since his retirement he has been touring on the organ club circuit and we met up with him at the 'St Austell Organ club' some years ago and had a brilliant evenings entertainment for a fiver including tea and biscuits at half time
Just to add to that if you haven't lost the will to live, my aunt who lived in Bromley used to play the piano in the 'silent movies' in Leicester Square before the organs were installed.

Don't think I have been to Scotland on that road although I might possibly have been when we went up the east coast in the '60,s, can't remember any more.

Re: Notices..what have you spotted?
Slightly unusual spelling on that Drive on the Left sign - fahran, rather than the usual fahren...

Can you remember your first pay and display car park? Of course you can't but here's the Mansfield Civic Dignatories at the opening of Mansfield Westgate some time before decimalisation!

There's one at Exeter hospital - but you can't find a space even if you could afford to pay for it.

Exactly the same as Reading then. I've been a lot over the last month (9 times!) Never got a space.

Re: Notices..what have you spotted?
I think that's what defines hospital car parks.

Re: Notices..what have you spotted?
I notice now all the local pay and display car parks have newly installed machines that require the full car registration number to be entered to get a ticket so that's an end to getting the benefit of a part used ticket passed from someone leaving.
