Oh, you might be correct. As it turned out we'd more "bits of cash" (from birthdays, Christmases, etc) accumulated in the house than I'd have guessed and so piling that together (to my surprise!) covered the bill. (Hence in the end I did not need to raid the cash machine)

Typed a longer reply yesterday but then the forum did one of its "need to sign in" and despite best efforts I could not get the message back. Seems to be happening more often (may be my phone playing up)

Anyway, was too tired yesterday to type it again. Short version was I'm pleased how economic the blue 308 SW is proving to be: typically a good 10 mpg better than the C5 tourer could achieve (55-60 MPG versus more like 42-48 for the C5), £20 a year road tax (note Parkers suggest some year's 308 are £0). Boot isn't a big step down in capacity Vs the big C5 either.

The adblue/ EURO6 double edge sword is the only thing to loose sleep over, hopefully it behaves, but the advantage of the car being ULEZ compliant is definitely a plus.

There's some stuff that gets added to the ad blue system that stops the crystallisation, so I've read , and it one of the things that keeping on top of it surely helps, they are a nice car, im seriously leaning towards one , time will tell

Yep, Wynn's Crystal Clear and Protect, recommended by several on here. I've put some in with every adblue top-up (including enough to dose the full 17 litre tank when I first bought the car)

Highly recommend the 2.0 HDi. GT-line spec is also pretty smart. Led headlamps and a few other goodies.

Our 308 SW GT-line is the same blue colour. We like the car, could do with a larger engine than the 1.5 hdi but it is adequate. For me the front seat back rest could do with being a bit wider so the seat wings are a bit further out from the back rest as they press against my hips which gives me some pain due to having had prostate cancer/radiotherapy in the right one - however, a thick towel down the back rest pushes me a bit forward so no contact with the wings.

When the need to sign in again happens I have found if I sign in, then use the back arrow a couple of times it goes back to the message typed out and can then be submitted again successfully. I always use a desk top pc when on the forum so the need to sign in again when submitting is probably not related to using a phone.

None of them are £0 VED now, the min rate has been upped to £20 (pre 01/04/17 - after that they are all flat rate £195; after the first year, and if you don't have to pay the expensive car supplement for the first 5 years!)

Ah, good to know. The 1.6 e-HDi (in the 2011 grey 308 which I read is actually a bit heavier) is "fine" whereas this 2.0 I'd say is good fun. Good to know the 1.5 HDi is similar.

Know what you mean, I know I have been spoilt by the super adjustable C5 seats, but I'd say the earlier Grey 308 (which is Allure spec) has comfier seats than the blue GT-line.

All my waffle and typos here are from my phone, done when I "get a gap" really! (Boys are watching Morph on the telly at moment) But interested to hear it's not a phone specific issue.

Yes, I usually try "back" (or rather " < " in the phone) and often I can get what I typed. Select all, copy, sign in, compose new message and paste.
However recently I have gone back to .... A blank compose message box, on more than one occasion. Nothing I've tried will recover the message in that situation.
I do try and select all + copy, just in case, for any long message - but it's a case of remembering. This is a long one so definitely getting copied before submitting!

Ah, interesting. Wonder if Parker's information is out of date, does not feel that long ago I spotted it. £20 is fine, every other car here is considerably more!

Now, one way to dodge VED is to be over 40 - the car that is , not you.

I have another four years to wait - patiently... Unless it all changes just before... Lots of speculation it was going to be abolished last budget. No doubt the speculators will be at it again when the time comes round again...
