hey everyone i hope your all doing well,sorry for the long time not posting i said id post when i next made big progress but i just kept pushing back my goalpost,but i think you might like the work anyway even if its not all been complete.
the main target ive set has been plugging some of these rust holes that make it qualified to be called a sive and taking of the underseal

ive bought myself a welder and have been learning to weld as i go along ive welded in a few peices the progress is coming along even if it is not doing so quickly
i will be back again soon for another update as well. i hope you have enjoyed it, thanks Scott

i have removed the exaust goten the idea to get it to a mirror finish realised it would take way to much effort
and just left it like this i might finish this off later to be fair but i think im going to use a ruffer grit sand paper on the angle grinder to make it quicker.

Hi Scott,

Apologies if meant in jest, but I wouldn't attempt to polish up a mild steel exhaust, if you want it shiny then would be better getting something made in stainless steel.

Think mild steel would be a constant battle to keep shiny and between the corrosion and you grinding/ polishing it back again you'd eat through the thickness of it on short order!

hey everyone thank you for all the kind words of support, ive been reading tham all and i really appriciate them, im sorry everyone for not uploading for a really long time i kept telling myself i would upload a update when i felt i had made some real progress but every small step forward i never thought was enough but now looking in hindsight i have still done a fair bit of work and learnt a lot of skills in the processes
to start i finished off the sill work as from my last post so i moved on to looking at the rust behind the wheel arch(gulp ) i was in for a suprire, i took of the bumper and decided i would go from there tjis is what i saw

the result was worse than i had expected, so if i wanted to tackle the structural issue i was going to have to take off the wing the wing is not like the front where you are able to unbolt it it is welded on so i had to drill out about 60-70 ish welds until i got this one wing that now currently lives in my room and is a great toe stubbing device when walking in the dark at 2 in the morning

from here that gave me a great picture to see where i was at ( ironically i didnt take a picture of the car at this point) all of the individual structural parts of the rear chassis where completely rusty so i drilled them all out individually and began on restoring them with some sheet metal and my
welder

and from there i got to the main structural point of the chassis leg

this large rectangular tube section which was completely rusty so that is the present point i am on is using a buck to recreate the shape of the tube to put in new steel .

Luckily my drive is brick,……but going on the rest of the car I'm confident it’s pretty rust free. it’s the 3.0l v6 that comes with the exclusive model, and it was made in 1998.
