Today, we've changed the water pump and timing belt, and to be honest. It's turned out to be a good idea, the top engine mount was shot

Image

As was the the spring tensioner

The water pump showed signs of leaking, not to mention being a complete pain to remove.

So all that has been done. Tomorrow we tackle the little jobs.....

The engine mount could be a problem... they are unique to the Xantia V6 and have been. nfp for about 4 years.

Well done Paul and Steve, an excellent couple of days' work there =D>

Is that the auxiliary belt tensioner that's poorly?

Time to look at making up a substitute on the lathe maybe

There are many suspension bushes of a similar size and one of the may do but maybe will need a packing ring to make it the right size.

Paul, you know where to send the broken engine mount - my way!

Best take it out of the boot of mine then...... I'd planned taking it home to get a replacement bush fitted....... ah well..... plan B it is then.......

Today will see us doing the odds and sods of things, things like the switch on the drivers seat, replacing bulbs and generally giving her the tidy up she needs.

Not yet Simon, it was a bit damp yesterday, don't worry, it's another job for today.

That rubber is really a vibration damper, it only takes torque reaction, not the weight of the engine. The stiffness of the rubber should be fairly critical. Maybe the rubber ring from a 406, 407, C5, or C6 V6 is similar (but on a different bracket)? .

Is that the bracket bolted to the inner wing, or the engine one? HDi is still available and the bush may be the same size - albeit spending £30 on a bracket you just going to press the bush out of might be a bit excessive!! The bush on the other end on the HDi is available separately (£26 though!!), but don't know what size it is - I could get a rough measure to see if it is anywhere near.

Edit: actually the engine bracket is still available, but is £93....

I suspect its this one Richard:

On the engine near the right wing. That picture is my car - looking at the picture I just noticed for the first time what looks like a shim in the side of the bush ??? Surely that's not original.

So there is something wrong with your Lexia then ?

Did you try the adaptor cable from Paul's on yours to see if it was just the cable ?
