Im sure if you look back my blog you will find a decent pic of my silver mk 1 activa for a starting point. I would just post one but due to losing my phone I lost most of my photos. I will try to find a good one on face book that I can post, one with the genuine wheels lol

Excellent, that will do just fine for these purposes I reckon.
Is the Activa front bumper different to the standard Xantia one? Looks more aggressive than I remember - but granted I've spent the most time around an S2 so could just be that difference I'm thinking of.

Yes, S1 ones are Zel... Unique to the Activa, S1 V6 and 2.1TD - those all have different front wings too and are 'fatter' to accommodate the big engines with ML5 gearboxes...
All S2 models had the 'fat' wings and similar bumpers... In fact I believe 'fat' S1 and S2 wings are interchangeable...

I know this to be true after Mrs. Michel's incident with my S1 Activa and a metal security post... replacement wing came from an S2 Xantia.

Well that's been a wonderful weekend, the break has definitely done a great deal to restore my sanity and reduce my stress levels. Just as every year it's sad that it has to end.
Tomorrow we've just got the long drive back home, then back to the largely dull grey of normal day to day life. Looking forward to getting the Skoda prepped for the MOT and ready for moving on, and ready to say hello to the Activa - that'll be a welcome distraction over the next couple of weeks.
Curious to see whether we see any more interesting things on the road back down south. The way up north turned up a CX, wonder if we can better that...

If I've learned on thing this year it's the value of short breaks and taking a few days away... Works beautifully for me...

Have a great trip back Zel! Hopefully this week will see some Activa progress... Things have been getting in the way of it just recently
No Activa work today as I'm spending a good part of the day with Robyn just before she goes off to Iceland for a few days for her winter break
She has been to Iceland a few time now and loves the place to bits...

No rush on anything Jim! I've got to get the Skoda ready too. Things will be ready when they're ready.
Really do need to get to more events like this weekend, just a matter of trying to make the costs make sense. The fact that this is something we always do as a family does make it a bit expensive...between hotel costs and convention memberships for all four of us that's £800 before we've even thought about food, fuel or spending money over the weekend. We did look at attending one of the events more local to us, but that was just prohibitively expensive...I stopped running the numbers any further when I got to £1500 and labelled the idea as "sometime in the future maybe..."
Just watching the world go by out the window now as we head home, always hits hard whenever I come back to Scotland...really do miss the place.
So will resume working to get the orange gremlin ready for the MOT tomorrow hopefully and keep myself busy.

Indeed they will... Better to go slow and thorough rather than rush it and potentially muck it up...Zelandeth wrote: 06 Nov 2017, 11:48 No rush on anything Jim! I've got to get the Skoda ready too. Things will be ready when they're ready.

It was never official, Tango was the usual name - but The Orange Gremlin also fits rather well!
Just a few minutes out of MK now...the only thing of interest seen the whole way down here was a Vauxhall VX-220 spotted on a transporter, that was it. Bit of a shame really, you usually find at least a couple of interesting things on a drive this long. Facing rearward and high enough up to see over the central reserve as well so no excuses for missing anything.

Welcome home Zel
It's amazing how long you can go on a journey now and see nothing of note...
My Sunday morning bike ride, despite going on for three hours around prime classic car territory, saw just one lone MGB...
And one of those bloody hideous Tesla abominations

Now finally armed with the correct part, will be off to sort the clutch on the Skoda. Fingers crossed I can avoid dropping the pushrod into the clutch housing this time! Took me an hour to get it out when I did that on the Rapid...
On the plus side, the cylinder came as a set along with a master cylinder as well - so that will go in the random spares box in the boot in case it's needed in future.
