My XM and Activa aren’t going anywhere, they’re part of the furniture now. I’ve had the XM 10 years and the Activa 13 years! The longest I’ve ever kept any car ever!
I love my XFR as the 5.0 Supercharged engine is absolutely sublime, torque everywhere and a gorgeous noise to go with it. I need a car that will tow 3.5 tons which is my justification for the Range Rover.
So, realistically, that’s my 4 car garage sorted. However, I love this 3.0 HDi C6 that I’ve got just now and can’t see me ever wanting to get rid of it. It’s a much more refined package then the 2.7 and if I ever sold it, I’d need to go back to France for another as the 3.0 HDi’s in the UK fetch an awful lot of money.
So, that’s me at 5... and if Citroen bring the Ami to the UK, that’s me back up to 6... Oh well, I guess you only live once...

Due to the ongoing problems with the C4 and Arnold Clark being a nightmare, I used it as an excuse to buy another car - not that I needed it!
I bought a Citroen C5 3.0 HDi Exclusive that needs a couple of little jobs for it's MOT, one of them is a bulb and the other is to drill out a sheered wheel bolt from the hub. It wasn't far away so I jumped up with the trailer to fetch it last night. With lockdowns and everything else it was less hassle to trailer it home then it was to get a lift off someone and drive it.
I now have an almost immaculate 2009 Thorium Grey C5 Exclusive with Matinal "Claudia" leather interior.
I'm hoping that when I show it to Cheryl she remembers how much she enjoyed driving our last C5 and will decide to keep this one instead of her C4.

A glutton for punishment! I hope the new addition fits in and that it's relatively hassle-free if that's even possible!
The Claudia Matinal leather is not to everyone's liking, but I really liked it on my X7 after the previous black leather on the MK II. It just makes everything a bit brighter and more airy - no hassle to clean and no issues with marking at all. One thing to watch - I'm not sure about your internal door trims - but mine were the colour of the car (Mativoire Beige) and the coating was extremely thin, made of that awful plastic type stuff that ultimately peels off - finger rings are the worst culprit on the grab handle. I ended up taking all mine off, stripping, primed and resprayed several good coats and the same with some lacquer. This really did give them a nice hard shell-like finish.

Interesting, thanks Marc. I hadn't noticed that on our old one that had the black interior.
I'll hopefully get a chance to have a look at this one after work, before it gets dark tonight and go from there. MOT says rear suspension inoperative...hope that doesn't turn into a nightmare - or has it been fixed, looks at normal height in the garden pic?

The MOT tester dropped it off the jacking beam, the car went to it's bump stops and instead of giving it time to rise up again, he trundled off to his PC and failed it. When he came back to the ramp it was sitting level.
I've had it on and off the trailer, moved it around the yard, had the suspension up and down several times and it's operating perfectly thankfully.
I think the tester must have been pretty harsh as the advisories for pitted or scored brake discs are harsh. The discs look excellent on the car. Once I've got it MOT'd I'll give it a proper once over, treat any rust I find and make sure she's tip top anyway. Despite driving it around in circles on a full lock I can't find anything wrong with either of the CV joints either.
It drives really well. Have ordered a wheel bearing for it so I can fit the new flange due to the snapped wheel bolt and once that's done she's good to go for another MOT.

The incompetence of some testers is astounding... now the Xantia has a permanent stain on its MOT history which says it failed an emissions test when it didn't....

Right, the C5 is ready for it’s MOT.
New wheel bearing, new flange to sort out the buggered thread, new FRIP joint and a new lower arm bush has the front left hand side all sorted.
I’ve replaced the window winder this afternoon too so that’s it all sorted.
I’ve noticed that if you drop the suspension to low, then press the button to return it to normal height the front rises but the rear doesn’t. If you then push the button once more to get it to intermediate height the front and rear both rise. If you drop it back down to normal height, the rear will drop down and it’ll sit perfectly level. Going to put Lexia over it shortly so will see what it’s moaning about.

Gave the C5 it's first wash last night. I'm pleasantly surprised at how nicely it's shined up 
Noticed after taking the picture last night 2 bulbs on the boot lid were out so changed them.
Drove it for the first time on the road going to it's MOT today. Drives absolutely spot on. Can't fault the drive at all. Suspension is perfectly soft, gearbox feels like new, and it feels nice and tight on the road.
Passed it's MOT today with one advisory for the rear left tyre so will get some miles on it over the next couple of weeks for some shakedown testing and as long as all is ok, it'll get a set of Michelin tyres on it. The rear right height sensor plays up when you drop the car to it's lowest setting too so I'll get one of them ordered up this week.
