Knowing what I do about Citroen Glasgow I get the impression that I'd be as well banging my head against a brick wall :(

Well, now that the weather has warmed and spring has arrived, and hopefully the salt has vanished, it's time to start waking cars up!

The Activa will probably be first as I want it ready to go for the Northern, it needs the interior putting back in it now that it's dry and then taking for an MOT. I'm fairly confident it'll pass without any problems. The only advisory last year was the exhaust but that's been replaced, and the rear discs and pads started squeaking last year as the pads had become slightly wedge shaped. I can't complain though as they were the original discs and pads on the back. You could still see the date of manufacture in 1997 written on the pads.

Once the Activa has been dealt with the CX is next on the cards. It needs a small patch of welding the size of a packet of cigarettes welding on the O/S longeron. Once that's done I need to source a set of 16" Alfa Romeo alloys for it as a temporary measure. The TRX tyres are only made in one batch a year by Michelin and as a result they're going to cost £1500 for a set of 4. Although I desperately want to keep it original, I'd rather change the wheels temporarily to make sure it's going to behave as it's not been on the road for more nearly 15 years. Once it's proved itself I'll treat it to a set of TRX's.

Once the Activa and CX are done, if time and funds permit I'll turn my attention to the XM. It's in dire need of a new exhaust and won't pass an MOT without one. Unfortunately an XM V6 exhaust is going to cost me around £1,500 so it might wait. I don't like using the XM as parking it anywhere makes me worry so it might get pampered in the garage for another year. It did a couple of trips last year so it did get some use.

I sold my Supercharged Range Rover on Saturday so I'm trying to decide what to replace it with. My heart wants a 5.0 Supercharged but my head it telling me to buy a late P38 as the values of them are on the rise. Given the fact I don't use it a lot I'm leaning towards buying an older model and spending a bit of time making it immaculate and with any luck not loosing any money on it. We'll see. My eBay watch list currently makes interesting reading... I'm having to remember and sign out before Cheryl gets near my laptop though  as I think she'd kill me if she saw what was on it ha ha.

Anyway, more pictures and updates as cars come out of hibernation :)

It'll be good to get the Activa out again David ;)

How you've managed to not drive it for so long is beyond me... Mine regularly calls me 'Hey you know you want to... Come drive me and put a big smile on your face" I can't live without mine. Yet another of my addictions...

She never fails to deliver :) 8-)

Yesterday was a perfect case in point...

How come so much? You could surely get a full stainless system for quite a bit less than that.

The Activa gets parked up in October usually and doesn't come out till Spring. It's the only way to keep it good and away from the salt up here over the winter. Although there's not been much salt this year.

S2 XM V6 exhausts are dealer only and they're £1500 for a centre section and back box. PD Gough in Nottingham want £1500 for a stainless steel one too.

I'll get it sorted though. :) The XM has done 53k (same as the Activa actually) so she's easily worth the money of the new exhaust it's just an eye watering amount of money for an exhaust!

Stupid money, get a SS one made....spec yourself how much sound you want, it is easy for them to make them silent.

Thats eye watering for a built on the car stainless one too David. The last car i got quoted for an exhaust was my c4 vts. Citroen wanted about £1500 for it, a local specialist with a good reputation quoted £350 for a custom built cat back stainless steel with lifetime warranty.

A V6 XM is worth every penny spent on it ;)

They are magical cars... If only they had smaller seats to accommodate us flyweights properly
