I remember the Royal Blue very well from when I was a kid and used to regularly go to Taunton on one...

I have no idea what make or age of coach that is but it's absobloodylutly gorgeous.

It is totally fabulous

I went to the Oxford Bus Museum a couple of years ago... An excellent day out... I went with a bus enthusiast friend and I can see why he is...

Whilst at the bus museum I spotted this interdiction:



Presumably it was OK to put corner spheres on the seats though...

I'm sure you know why Jim but I am reminded of my granddad's radio that ran on a lead/acid accumulator that he took to the radio shop every weekend to be charged - or in reality exchanged for a charged one.
I was impressed as they were glass and you could see the plates and electrolyte inside.
The radio shop was close to the bus station but I can't recall seeing that notice in any of our buses.

That was back before a lot of people had mains in their houses, much less battery chargers Steve!!!

I'm told (a bit before my time) that our local cycle shop offered this service..

By way of explanation, a battery wireless in the old days had three batteries: an accumulator to run the valve filaments, the 'hungriest' consumer of current, a dry HT battery of perhaps 90v and a 9v dry tapped Grid Bias battery... The latter lasted ages, could be voltage-tapped to vary the bias and the HT battery lasted a fair while too, it was just the filament accumulator that needed frequent charging...

I have some old articles on making home-brew chargers... Some are hairy in the extreme...

Glass accumulators were lovely....

I like those little campers, always fancied one myself...

I've thought of a C15 Romahome a few times but the cost puts me off...

Be cheaper to buy a baby caravan and tow it with the Activa...

Couldn't agree more people are often wanting silly money (£8,000 to £12,000) for 15 to 20 year old "vans" just because they have a couple of mattresses a little table and a silly useless little sink in them!

Makes the J2 coming up for auction look total value for money at a similar guide price.



Course if you want to DIY this J2 is £1200, although not quite the style of the finished one above. The little face on it and the slightly lopsided photo has that "I'm sad, please rescue me" type of look.

I could never drive a CX estate....they ALL look like a Ghost-Busters car to me ...I'm the wrong age for them.
