Re: Ds7 opinions
Could be, I will try a reset and see. Thanks. Still looking for disabling the seat retract...

As Bob says "Yes we can!", asked DuckDuck.aithe question the answer sound right.Dagman wrote: 26 Feb 2026, 07:33 I'll check that out paulC5, thanks. Would you know anything about memory seats? Thing is, the car retracts the seat fully back when you stop and get out, when you get in it is a stretch to reach the brake pedal to start the car only then does it go to your memory position, worse for my wife! Can it be set not to go back? I only have a very complicated ds7 manual on my phone so hard to look for an answer.

Accessing the Settings
- Turn on the Ignition: Start your vehicle to access the settings.
- Navigate to Comfort Settings: Use the touchscreen display to find the "Comfort" or "Settings" menu.
- Disabling the Function
- Locate Driver Welcome Function: Look for an option labeled "Driver Welcome" or similar.
- Turn Off the Function: Disable the setting to stop the driver's seat from moving back when exiting the vehicle.
Re earlier comment, at lease, being a 2021 vehicle, there's only 2 more luxury car tax prremiums to be paid, it's due for 5 years after its 1st anniversary, so thats this year and next (2022+5=2027). A lot of people get it wrong, the car has to be over 6 years old before the luxury car tax it no longer payable.

Re: Ds7 opinions
Thanks, will try that, phone manual pages too small to trawl through just yet! The tax is annoying but the car is too good to let go, lifetime mot's and 3 year warranty. They are putting new lights on as I type as one not working and one misted up, no charge, and cleaning up the alloys as some lacquer had come off. Cheers.

Re: Ds7 opinions
That's a good one, had that with the wife's Corsa, had 14 years of free MOT's then they closed that branch off the dealership, and the branches would not honor the agreement
Have you downloaded the handbook? if so open it and use the search function.

I have downloaded it but on my mobile, a bit small to read. My asus pad is too old for it to work. Typical.

I've put it on my old desktop, working ok so I can root through it. Now then, what does my trim get? Going to take time.

Re: Ds7 opinions
Hi all, mpg still low, using normal setting so that's probably as good as it gets. We are loving the car and getting to grips with the touchscreen options, love the lights turning and adapting when moving. Next question, bear with me! I've not had an auto gearbox with a parking brake on the centre console and a park button on the gear selector. I am confused by the manual, how do I use them and where and when. Do we put them both on and in any order or just one? Thanks

Re: Ds7 opinions
Anyone know about the brake switches, why there are two? I think it is the same in other peugeots and citroens. Never had it before so dont want to damage anything. I'm using the console P brake when parking up but what is the advantage of the one on the drive selector lever? Thanks.

Re: Ds7 opinions
They both say P but are wholly different systems. The one on the drive selector locks the output shaft of the auto box, much like leaving a manual car in gear when you park on a steep hill: with the handbrake off, if you leave the drive selector in N (neutral) you can roll the car around but in P (park) you can't.
A normal safety feature on automatics is that you can only start the engine if its in P or in N, some only in P, some manual cars like my old Picasso you had to put the clutch down to start the engine, same sort of idea.
The other P is the handbrake switch, nothing to do with the transmission and just like the handbrake on a conventional car. Instead of a lever pulling cables it operates a small electric motor which pulls the brake pads against the calliper. Because of that it is normally wired in to the car controls so that when you press the accelerator it automatically releases.
So - when you park and leave the car its normal to have the drive selector in P - like leaving a manual in gear - and the handbrake button also on. If you are in a slow line to traffic on a slope you might leave the gearbox in D but use the handbrake switch to stop the car rolling if you take your foot off the footbrake.
Main point is - they are not the same as one another.
If you want to park with the 'handbrake' off (as I do if I leave the car for a long time in my level garage) there is a procedure to do that - have a look in your handbook but on other Citroens I have owned you press start without a foot on the brake so the brains satr up but the engine doesn't fire, put foot on brake pedal, release the handbrake by pusing the button down then switch it all off again. When you open the drivers door it tells you off

Re: Ds7 opinions
Thanks Richard_C, that is very helpful. We shall try the options you suggest. As I say we don't want to do anything that may wear something out or break it. It would be much simpler with one brake but two
, cheers

Re: Ds7 opinions
Hi Richard_C, your advice re brakes is spot on. Used those moves a few times and the penny has dropped! Still a bit narked on mpg tho. Need to stop comparing it to our last 1.6 diesel c-max. Cheers

Re: Ds7 opinions
Comparing petrol against diesel for fuel consumption is a lost cause. Diesel has higher thermal efficiency when combusted even with all the emissions controls bolted on and higher efficiency of modern petrol engines.Dagman wrote: 05 Mar 2026, 07:36Still a bit narked on mpg tho. Re: Ds7 opinions
Diesel fuel (even before you start to run an engine) is more dense and has more 'energy' in it than petrol - at least 10% and more like 15% more. They are very similar per Kg - about 45 megajoules/Kg - but by volume diesel is c. 37 megajoules per litre, petrol a bit under 34. So even if you had engines of identical efficiency - impossible because of how they work but 'in theory' - burning diesel would get you 15% further because we measure consumption by volume not by weight.
A side effect of this is that putting 50l of diesel into your tank adds abouit 42Kg to all up weight, 50l of petrol adds 38. Hardly material but vaguely interesting.
Have you had any decent long trips yet? Cold engines are desperately inefficient and petrol particularly so. On a long journey my (petrol) car delivers c.46mpg, but if I drive the 1 mile uphill to the nearest shop from a cold start on a cold day it drops to 20 - the instantaneous readout shows 13 for the first hundred metres or so. In the real world all this gets averaged out of course.
I guess the DS7 is heavier and quieter, maybe you are driving it faster without realising
.
Enjoy driving it and see what it look like after a few long trips. All the citroen 'trip meters' I have had, so I guess the DS as well, stop caluclating after 10,000 Km (6700 miles ish) so maybe reset yours and see what it tells you in a week or few.

Will try that. Best single trip was 35.5mpg, strangely an identical journey we'd made the day before of 8 miles, on that day 32! Maybe small changes we don't notice like stops starts etc.

Re: Ds7 opinions
Hi guys, update.. loving the ds7, the 1.6 puretech 180 is more than adequate, best mpg was 45 on an 'A' road/dual carriageway trip of 90 miles, around town 33. Have got some mud flaps to fit, the car shape behind the wheels and the lower door guards beg for mud etc and with it being black! Just hope insurance doesn't increase as it is a car mod. Some insurers don't care but sods law etc. Car also has an annoying front brake squeal, pads and discs look good, dealer going to check but I'm not wanting to pay, only had it less than a month. Let's see
