Wheeler: do you know the Valeo part number of the COMM's units of the C5's that you did?
I dont know the Valeo part number as that car is long gone now but the Citroen part number would have been 6242H2, I used to have a cross reference sheet somewhere.

I have never tried to retro fit it to a car with the steering wheel mounted controls & never noticed that they still had the blanking caps.

The Xsara that I couldn't get to work, if i remember right (bear in mind this would have been at least 18-19 years ago) the CC stalk wasnt the problem, I'm sure Lexia could see the switch being operated OK, I think the issue was there was no wiring present in the engine ECU for the redundant brake switch.

After two misadvertised revision Lexia C full chip readers that turned out to be revision B lite (got refunded) a proper full chip one finally arrived. Got a Win XP Pro running in virtual machine with Diagbox V7.49. Activating the cruise control in ecu and bsi was really straight forward in PP2000. I have the Cruise 1B working. No limiter since my setup does not support it. With cruise 1B there is no indication of the cruise control active or the set speed on dash and while I´m ok with that I became curious about the Cruise 2 option. If I choose that on the car shows in the odometer display Cc Off when cruise is activated and when speed is set it quickly flashes the set speed but turns right back off. It activates a code P0571 though it does not activate the check engine light. P0571 can mean many things but mostly brake switch/cruise control if I´m correct. Brake switch is working fine with the Cruise 1B and so is clutch switch. Do you know if the Cruise 2 is possible to get working with some different type of switch etc. simple solution or does this simply mean that my car just does not support it? I don´t mind if that´s so. Just curious.

I think you'll find it's only the COMS unit that "dings" when you turn the CC on or off. Otherwise there is no indication that it's working (other than it maintaining speed).

How many wires go to the brake switch? If only 2 you have the wrong switch.
The p0571 is a "coherence" fault, meaning 2 things are not lining up. The brake switch should have a normally closed and a normally open set of contacts. When the open ones close, the closed ones should open. This checks that one set isn't faulty. If they are both open, that's a problem. If they are both closed, that's a problem.

What is the part number of the COMs unit?

Thank you for the details. No dings apparent when activating the working 1B cruise but that does work without problems. My car has a 4-pin brake switch and the COM unit is 6242 F4, COM2000, 96542557XT. No fault codes or anything suspicious regarding brake operation.

EDIT: Just replaced the brake switch. The cruise control cut off multiple times on highway. After the new switch that was fixed. The Cruise 2 still doesn´t work though but the 1B does. My car is 2004 but uses the year 2003 white switch. There is a difference in connectors inner shape between 2003 4-pin and newer 4-pin switch and while externally same size they are not interchangeable. I know this just because the parts guy insisted that I have the later green switch and of course it didn´t fit. Also the arm is slightly longer on those later models. Both look the same if just looking pictures online.
