All good points and useful info, cheers.

To be fair a couple of local independents aren't that much cheaper and I'd be unsure how well they know the work involved.

One thing that struck me, I know they should remove the sump and clean it out, but is replacing the oil and filter also done as part of the job.

Thanks

I suspect that unless there are signs of a shredded belt, they may not specifically remove the sump. But they will drain the oil and from here if there is evidence of debris and belt material, they may well clean it all up, but the point of course is preventing it getting to this stage in the first place. Your dealer will also ensure that the correct oil grade and specification is used as they changed these earlier in 2024 to provide more protection.

So the dealer replied, copying the same "recommended" service items as seen and still said 12 years, when I pointed out the sheet they supplied said 6 years for the timing belt I got another response saying oh yeh we mixed up the Timing Belt replace with the Timing Kit replace

"The cost of the repair would be £636.11 including VAT. However the parts from Citroen are on back order which means

We have no delivery dates for the parts needed."

Looks like I better find another dealer that knows what they are talking about then, or at least one that wants the work :-D

Just for you to be aware that if the parts are out at one dealer, this is likely to be the same for the others, as they generally don't keep stock of these, ordering from their hubs with most stuff coming directly from France on a daily basis. They generally only keep service items like filters in stock for example, as usually parts don't take that long to come in. But at least they acknowledged their mistake on the timing belt replacement interval, which could of had dire consequences if one had simply followed that advice and the belt went! 8-[

There's nothing special about the OE parts for something like this - apart from the price! Should be able to get a branded kit (e.g. Dayco, Gates, SKF, INA) for less, and fitting is not too hard (well, not compared to a Ford or Honda 1.0turbo anyway).

It's more the fact they don't appear to know, or care, what they are talking about.

Plenty other dealers around

So more or less to tie this thread up.

Spoke to another dealer, "yeh no problems we can get the parts tomorrow" so it's booked in for next week
