Re: replacement IR (infrared) remote for S1 1997 Xantia
I still have a lot to learn about this:
Would I connect the aftermarket lock controller to 6235 ( I think this is in the center console) or to the Plip controller in the roof?

There is NO LED mounted in the A/C sensor (next to the clock).
I ordered the EPathChina Universal 12V Car Auto Remote Central Kit Door Lock that you suggested .
Will I connect it to the Plip control unit in the roof or to the locking computer control unit located ( I think ) in the center console?
Thanks for your help with this .
The wiring diagrams are great!

OK so locate the central locking unit under the centre console, with a bulb (not LED) test lamp connected to earth probe each wire/terminal with the unit still plugged one at a time, hopefully on 2 of the wires there then you touch the terminal one will lock the car & another one will unlock it. If this happens then you have negative trigger locking. Your kit will need to be set up correctly as per its diagram to operate negative pulse.

It might be more convenient to mount the new receiver where the old IR receiver is located, less wires to deal with.

Xantia_v6 :
I was hoping to be able to mount the new reciever in the headliner / roof where the old IR receiver is located :
CAN you tell me the wiring connections from the new aftermarket receiver EPATH to the original IR module wiring ?
The original IR module has 5 wires going to it :
My Plip controller has 5 wires : 1. Mushroom -ve, 2. orange +ve apparently only with ignition on, and 3, 4 and 5 are grey wires.
I was told that #2 orange is only +ve with ignition on, how will I get 12 V +ve to it ? or was I misinformed?

Thank you for your reply Wheeler
I posted a reply to you a few minutes ago but I can no longer find it here ... so I will do it again.
Firstly : How do I properly remove the center console to gain access to the Central locking unit computer ?
( I am very unfamiliar with the Xantia and had never ever seen one before a month ago ... I don't want to break anything!)
Secondly : Is it possible to connect the Aftermarket Locking control unit to the IR module unit in the roof between the sun visors as an alternative method of connecting the Aftermarket Locking control unit?

According to the diagram pin 5 at the IR receiver is permanent live. The receiver wouldn’t really be any good if there wasnt a permanent power supply at it. As for mounting the unit where the original one is it really depends on how bulky it is & i there is enough space. Any time i have fitted these kind of things i would normally mount them either behind the glovebox or near the fusebox somewhere, just depends on where it will fit. You could try the same test as i said with the test lamp at the IR receiver wires & if it works then those wires are suitable.
As for removing the centre console around the handbrake, i have not worked on a Xantia for at least 15 years so couldn’t remember off hand.
