Yeah I guess you could right, not really sure where to go from here…? Seems as though I need to find a Citroen specialist local to me, anyone know anyone? Apart from stealers.

Re: Citroen c5X7 suspension fault
I have had good service from Simon. He was a Citroen technician for several years before setting up on his own.

However, you can strip and clean the BHi motor yourself, if you are careful and don't mind a bit of hard work or getting dirty. I had to do that on my C5 last year.

@citroenx7: Yes, I think it would help if we knew exactly what engine and PS system you have as there are different systems fitted to different versions of the X7. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff. This will save us asking redundant questions and giving irrelevant answers.

Re: Citroen c5X7 suspension fault
Ok, so to clarify things you have the electro-pump power steering system.
This means you have a separate power steering pump that is fed low pressure hydraulic fluid from the same LDS reservoir that feeds the BHI (suspension computer, hydraulic block / pump).
So you should not need to touch the power steering pump unless the power steering is not working when the engine is running.
So you need to focus on the BHI pump for the suspension and either clean this up using the guide in one of my last posts or replace it. The part numbers you already supplied (5277N8 is for a new unconfigured BHI, 5227N9 is a preconfigured BHI which is no longer available from Citroen, and lastly 1680917280, which is an exchange hydraulic block that will need configuring for your vehicle).

Re: Citroen c5X7 suspension fault
These are going to be expensive whether new or exchanged - about £1900 new or £1200 exchange in the UK from Citroen. I would be wary of a used one in that link that has done 300k KMs! It's probably in bad condition internally.
There's not too many of these about now, but this one is a bit cheaper:

Re: Citroen c5X7 suspension fault
I had to replace the unit on my C5, as (at sometime in the past) somebody had replaced the 40A maxi fuse with a 60A maxi fuse, without investigating why it kept blowing. As a result the wiring in the motor burnt out. Fortunately I was able to get a replacement suitable unit from my local scrapyard for £30, and the maxi fusebox for £10. I had to clean the replacement motor (it had the LDS gunge), but my C5 is still on the road.
The unit I obtained was from a similar age C5 saloon, so I transferred the valve control electronics across (as my C5 is an estate model). The pump itself only has three wires (in two connectors); the pair of wires to power the pump, and the solenoid trigger wire. Even though the motor was different, the connectors for it were not.

Re: Citroen c5X7 suspension fault
My pump would appear to have the same number 5277N8 according to my old version of service Citroen but the label on the pump is 96 540 686 80.I cleaned this pump and it has been running fine. the spare pump was bought as a back up.
I will check the spare pump for a number.
Marc can you check the above is correct.

Re: Citroen c5X7 suspension fault
As per what I wrote earlier Kenny. The internal part numbers are above for the OPs vehicle. If that is the original part for your vehicle and fitted at factory that has the 9654068680 number printed on it, then that will be the international part number, which gives the OP some better choices when searching.5277N8 is for a new unconfigured BHI, 5227N9 is a preconfigured BHI which is no longer available from Citroen, and lastly 1680917280, which is an exchange hydraulic block that will need configuring for your vehicle
@citroenx7: This being the case, have a search for 9654068680 and you'll find a lot more sellers and a lot better pricing:
