Thank you, all. I took off the wiper motor casing and it seems different to the part shown above (unless my eyes have gone funny and I can't process perspective). There are a couple of plastic fittings that have snapped, but no sign of the little plastic bits that have snapped off. In any case, I'm not sure the plastic fittings necessarily fitted to anything. I've left it off for the time being, so at least that'll tell me if that's the culprit. Thanks once again, B.
