Quick update
Sadly the bushings are not the correct ones. The inner diameter is 29mm and they are too big for the anti roll bar - in my case 21.5mm.
Probably the best route for now is to research for custom poly bushes.

Is the outer form of the new bushes correct? If so then is potential it could be sleeved down from 29 to 21.5, perhaps with a piece of nylon turned to suit then a slot cut in it for fitting. If really lucky maybe something commonly available could provide the raw materials.
21.5mm is outside diameter of plastic overflow pipework. I'll see if I have any solvent weld overflow fittings and measure what their outside diameter is. 29-21.5 = 7.5mm difference in diameter, 3.75mm thickness = may be more than could be hoped for this route, but will check (likely tomorrow morning, need to remember where I might have buried that stuff in the garage!)

The outer form is also not the correct one and I’m not sure if it could be trimmed. One idea I got is to take measures of the current ones and to cross reference to find a close replacement via this website -

Ah ok, if wrong on inside and outside then as you say they're not worth persisting with.
That's a cracking website, love stuff that lets you cross reference.
On the polyurethane bushes front, am sure Powerflex website, "universal" range was quite good at search by dimensions. Will try and dig out a link.

Hi all!
I believe that I have found the right bushing for our beloved C5’s.
After a little bit of research on the 407 I found out that some later models have the same set up as ours - the whole anti-roll bar to be replaced.
Based on the diagrams - 5170.E8 is the correct number. As far as I saw there are two options -

The only small issue I see is the inner diameter is 20mm and our cars have different sizes - from 20mm up to 21.5mm.
As the whole anti-roll bar will be removed maybe it will be a good time to send it for powder coat.
Next step will be to do a little bit more research and decide which way to go.

I would be cautious about powder coating it.
There was a member, Stickyfinger if I remember correctly, who has issues caused by the powder coating breaking down due to friction with the bushes.
This was with components powder coated in the factory.

I think the front anti roll bars I've encountered (206, 306, 406 Coupe) are powder coated and this is normally cracked with surface corrosion merrily propagating under the coating. (Normally locally remove the flaking coating, grind/sand the rust off and slap some cheap black paint on. So I'd not rush to powder coat it. I'm not sure coat tolerates the flexing of the roll bar well.
Not thought about friction with respect to the bushes, but a good point too - I'd guess normally the rubber grips tightly on the bar and it's movement (torsional twisting under cornering forces but also bar will try to rotate when both wheels move up or down together)
Actually that's a good point about polyurethane bushes in this application, they act as a bearing to rotation forces, so would behave quite differently to the rubber standard version.
Interesting stuff, and like a good few things on the C5 a more involved project the more you think about it!

I am new in this forum, but I found this thread about bushings and sway bar.
I have peugeot 407 coupe 3.0 V6 with sway bar 5170.E6 (diameter 22 mm). I ordered bushings with inner diameter 19 mm. I wanted to ask if I will be able to fit anyhow on the sway bar which is more thick.
Any experience with this please?

No direct experience but I would think you might struggle fitting the bushes as supplied: 22-19 = 3 mm of material, quite a lot to expect it to just compress to allow the clamp to tighten.
If the bushes are cheap enough (and relative to the new genuine bar plus bushes I guess they are) it might be worth trying to drill out the centre. A 22 mm hole saw perhaps. It'd be hard to do it neatly cutting the rubber but likely what I'd try.
If the rubber seems fairly soft, it might be worth a try fitting it as is first, but quite whilst you are ahead of it's not fastening down easily.
Good luck and keep us posted on your experiences

Citroen don't care and do just that then double down and bond the bush to the powder coating...then punch down & only sell roll bars complete when the powder coatings crack & trap water
Still, they can always charge their customers for a full item

Actually drilling the to new bushing sounds good to me. I think there is enough material to make the hole wider
The inner diamter shoud be same as anti roll bar diamater? That means 22 mm for both? (rod and also bushing)

I'd measure the id of the bush now, as supplied. If it's to suit a 19mm bar, it might not be 19mm diameter hole. I would not be surprised if there was a little compression. Say it measures 18mm, I'd seek to drill out to 21mm then you'd be similar ball park of compression on your 22mm bar.
