Whenever there are any odd electrical problems the first check should be the battery voltage, if low apparent problems can appear but once the battery is charged up never occur again. Before starting the engine first thing in the day a fully charged battery will be about 12.7 volts but if below about 12.5 volts it needs charging.

Try a BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure
However it may be the engine fuse box playing up as both lights and wipers are powered by it.

Hi I tried the bsi reset and it still happened, if I buy a used fuse box from eBay and do a straight swap is it easy to do as in plug and play or will it need coding, configuring etc? Has anyone done this? Is it difficult to do? Thanks

For the C3 (A51), there is no configuration of the engine fuse box, but if you decide to replace it, make sure it is the correct part. I would suggest you have it properly diagnosed first before replacing parts to make sure there isn't another fault causing this.

Thanks I have found an identical numbered one on eBay, bam 9667199680
When it's happening you can hear the relay clicking in and out continuously under the fuse box.

Anyone found a Solution to this yet?
I have an old 2008 mk2 C3. The key fob got wet and threw up an imobiliser fault initially.. After drying put and a new battery.. the immobiliser fault is still there intermittently, but the lights and wipers with no key in the ignition, fault has started.

This issue is usually associated with the comms unit under the steering wheel.

Thanks Marc. I was assuming it was salt related as the car sits outside in the salt air every day.
At least the immobiliser fault has cured and disconnecting the battery solves the other fault.. its only got 6 months to live abd will never pass another MOT so not worth spending any money on it apart from diesel and the fob battery.
