GiveMeABreak wrote: 21 Jan 2022, 15:11 It's a very good system. I had one in my C5 X7. Plays DVDs (when stationary), has bluetooth and also a separate SIM card if you have the services module installed, Voice control, 3D mapping, plays MP3 via USB slot or, you can slot in an SD card in the front and play all your MP3s from there, or use the Jukebox function. Lots of other features too, but to go back to your question....

There are no longer any official maps available for this system since 2016, which angered a lot of us with these units since PSA decided not to commission any more updates from HERE (who provide the maps). There are however, some people who have modified the BMW map updates (which use a similar unit) to work with the NG4.

The people selling these are crooks making money - as the updates are freely available from various forums with a little know how.

I will send you some info via a Private Message shortly.

Ciao Gabriele

What is it you are trying to update, the Firmware or the Maps, and which versions of each of these do you currently have installed?

Hi Mark,
I managed to update the firmware to the most recent (n42c). I need now to update the map. My map version is the first, 2009/2010 more or less.
Thanks

Ok, so we don't supply maps here. There are no official updates since version 2016-2, but some have modified the BMW map updates to work. Have a google of a few sat nav sites and you'll surely find them.

Hi, new to the forum and looking for help please, just got a 2011 3008, from what I have read here there are firmware updates available for the stereo and navigation system, my system is currently running ng4_D_R26B_ r26.04. I have blue tooth and an aux USB port neither of which play music which would be the dream. Thank you in advance for any pointers or links :)

Hi

You should be able to play MP3 files via the USB in any case, regardless of Firmware - this was the intended function from the start, Further you can play MP3 CDs, DVDs, and music files from the SD card Slot and also via the inbuilt Jukebox function from which you can copy CDs if required.

Personally, I would only recommend you using a USB stick to play MP3s, as this will save the HDD wear.

I would also avoid AUX, as this is only really intended for things like AV equipment for playback of AUX and Video from Camcorders and Game devices etc.. With AUX there is not track control forward or Rewind - you only have control of volume.

The latest and last firmware available for the NG4 is 42.03_N42c. I'll send you a Private Message with the Link.

Hi

I am new user here, but i am not here for the first time, thats for sure. Been coming to this forum for years now.

I have have trouble with my radio...seems to forgot date and time when i turn off the car for a few minutes (no economy mode). I am suspecting BSI unit is going bad, but i wanted to try few thinks first before dealing with that (seems like nightmare). Issue came up after i tryed to get rid of the "puncture message" on my dash by disconnecting and reconnecting the car battery and after that the radio wont remember time and date... Prior to that one or two months GPS stopped working...excelent :))

My unit is NG4, with firmware ng4_D_N42c_N42.03 What i red this should be the last version. But is it possible to reinstall it? I already tried but still getting error code: 0x3018 (update medium not ok - please check) and i tried USB and SD card. If so can someone send me the link for the update.

Thanks so much :))

Won't be anything to do with the BSI.

It will likely be the vehicle battery is weak or discharged, the X7 does tend to consume power when not in use and very quickly can drain the battery.

There may be another possibility though - the GPS N Week Rollover issue. If you have your navigation system settings set to 'Synchronise Time with GPS', then you must UNTICK this option. This will also help ensure your system's navigation is not affected by the issue when navigating.

Lastly try a BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

How can I tell if I did the BSI reset correctly? I have tried it a few times without any results.

Since my GPS is not working (probably due to water damage to an antenna...that I will replace next week), I can't use GPS time synchronization anyway.

The battery is about 3 years old and seems in good condition. I rarely see economy mode and have good starts (saying that I will replace it in the future because of this annoying issue).

Just for clarification time and date on the radio completely reset when I switch off the car for more than a few minutes. It's just like if you disconnect the battery for some time.

I will post any progress...
Anyway, thank you.

So the issue was a bad GPS antenna.

Thank you for your advice.
