Thanks @GiveMeABreak,

I plugged in my Lexia again today, and ran a diagnostic check. I clicked on the NG4 entry in the results and saw that like others it had the correct VIN for the car, but the initial "V" had become a "?". The rest was correct. I reckon it's the original unit though of course I cannot prove that. The options matched what the car has, however.

This ties in with what others say here and on French forums. The unit almost certainly has a bug which randomly causes this under rare circumstances. (Someone had it happen just by inserting a CD). The VIN is then unrecognised, and the unit, no longer being able to identify the car as a Citroën, simply defaults to "Peugeot".

Anyway it is fixable. I went into the "Repair" section under the NG4 section, the chose "Configuration" option, then with the engine started (as it asked) I confirmed the next couple of dialogs and chose "Manual Configuration", then "VIN Configuration". Then I was able to edit the VIN, and change the "?" back to a "V" and write the change, exit Diagbox and this fixed the issue.

Yes, a simple solution, well done and you'll know for next time. I never had this issue with mine though.
