Re: 94 Xantia no electrical power to injection pump
Richard,
Thanks for your PM
Mike,
Richard's VIN number VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
details Xantia 1.9TD XUD9TE BVM5, Bosch injection
and parts show this: ...which has me confused now.
You know Xantia better than I do, so ECU+Bitron in this case, or not?
Richard,
Your first photo shows the wires going to the fuel cut-off solenoid, which all diesel inj pumps have.
The second photo is the glow-plug relay. The green connector is for control of the relay: IGN +12, Gnd, and signals from coolant temp sensor to alter pre- and post-heating durations. The two large heavy-duty connectors are a direct Batt+ supply, and a cable run to the four glow-plugs.
Thanks for your PM

Re: 94 Xantia no electrical power to injection pump
Just thought I'd add a pic of where one of the 3 wires goes to which is listed as ALBF system in my manual. Although it's pretty much impossible to get behind the fuse box i have not as yet located a main ecu.white exec wrote: 15 Dec 2020, 22:27 Richard,

That's the cold advance control solenoid... It won't affect the ability to start...

I also made a mistake, I posted the wrong set of diagrams, here is the correct set:
Item 1208 is the injection pump here with the stop and advance solenoids.
It doesn't change the situation much, the stop solenoid is still fed from the ignition switch via the fuse panel and the 10AV harness.

Re: 94 Xantia no electrical power to injection pump
Today has not been kind, we replaced the interior fuse box but this didn't change the situation, at the moment the issue has been bypassed with the aid of a ignition fed relay feed but the engine will not switch off.(*edit: This relay setup has now been removed) Whatever the fault is it's causing a loss of power to all but 2 dash lights, pre & post heat relays & a few other components in the same vicinity. Although the under bonnet fuse box doesn't appear to power a great deal we've been unable to get it out, anyone know how to remove it? We've been playing with a couple of yellow tabs but it won't budge.

Re: 94 Xantia no electrical power to injection pump
Just bumping this thread to see if there's any interest in anyone buying this car, the fault is not fixed and has in fact developed a nasty misfire - (possibly due to the wiring modification done as the fault wasn't there before) until the car warms up. I've now got another car which i'm going to run for a month, see how it does on it's mot in march and if it proves ok (which so far it's not doing to be honest) then my xantia will be up for sale but only on here, i will not be putting it on any websites because i haven't the patience for idiots & in truth this car needs a lot of other jobs doing on it so it'll need someone who knows these cars. I will make a proper "for sale" post listing the issues etc but if i keep my new car this will have to go, be it sold or scrapped, i cannot keep it as i have no where for it. I know how much i want for it but make an offer and i'll see how close we are, please note the car is now SORN too. If any one is interested and wants any details inc pics please PM me.
Rather than bumping this thread i just thought i'd edit this post to say that as the car has been behaving & starting as it should for the past few weeks i've disconnected the wiring modification to see if this fixes the misfire after start up and it has.

Re: 94 Xantia no electrical power to injection pump
Iv just read this post, I had a 94 1.9td which made it to 300,000. I owned it for about 8years, while snagging it in the first few months of getting it I removed a bridged wire which connected two fuses one side to the opposite side one or two fuses down.in the under dash fuse box. Nothing seem to change or have any effect... About 3 years and over 100,000 miles later, got in it one day, turned key and only had what looked like position 1 lights on, no glow plugs, abs, stop light etc, would turn over but not start. Messed around and it all came back, did this intermittently for a while and got stuck one day, I had to run a wire from the battery to heat the glow pugs, then pop it on the stop solonoid to get it started.
I then bridged the wire back In the fuse box. And all was good never did it again..... Only thing is, can't remember what fuses, but it must have been fairly obvious for me to try it in a breakdown situation.. Worth a look if that sounds the same thing you are experiencing..

Re: 94 Xantia no electrical power to injection pump
That was to get over a break in one of the two main feeds to the ignition switch via the loom that runs under the radiator...xantia1 wrote: 04 Feb 2021, 22:10I removed a bridged wire which connected two fuses one side to the opposite side one or two fuses down.in the under dash fuse box.
There are joints (splices) in those wires that corrode and go open-circuit, sometimes intermittently. Often caused by coolant leaks from the radiator dripping onto the loom and getting into the splices...
Helllishly hard to repair properly, hence the bodge

Re: 94 Xantia no electrical power to injection pump
Figuring out which wires to bridge has been my problem of late not really helped by the car behaving for the past 2 weeks so i can't trace the power drop out.xantia1 wrote: 04 Feb 2021, 22:10
