Re: GTI T2 ‘restobuild/mod’.....
More progress. It’s now up and running and I’m driving it. After attempting to get the comedic handbrake assembly working on the car, I had a suitably Gallic hissy fit and took the whole lot off, fitted new cables and stripped and lubed the ridiculous mechanism and put it all back together. Hey presto a CX with a working handbrake! Also fitted new rear pads and all the retaining hardware.....
I’ve temporarily fitted some 16” Alfa wheels as I don’t want to use my brand new and gorgeous 16” T-Slots until it’s all finished. It seems to drive very nicely, it’s a bit hard to tell as it’s a stripped shell with just drivers seat and a seat belt, but it goes and stops and pulls and stops in a straight line, etc....
It also already seems ridiculously quick, although until it’s been mapped on Emerald’s rolling road I’m taking it easy
The modern heat-A/C unit is now mounted where I need it and the glovebox fits in the original place, I’ve ducted one of the 4 exits to the screen vent and another first for a CX, strong air flow to the screen ducts! I should be able to do the same with the dash vents.....
I’ve made a start on Dynamat-ing the whole interior too, it’s already much quieter. Next stop, a bit more pootling it around and then off for a custom stainless exhaust to be made.
Onwards........!

Hell, I wondered what I was looking at in your first photo - some kind of scrapyard aftermath was the first thought
.
Impressive progress, and on the A/C and ventilation front, too.
For stainless, give P.D.Gough in Nottingham a thought, if not already on your list. Their systems are impressively solid and quiet. They also do one-offs.

And for those wondering, I’ve got 4 very good doors to replace these ones! and a bonnet, and a bootlid

And there was I thinking you'd laid a very loud new set of carpets in the car

Congrats! I look forward to hearing what Emerald Tuning could do for a Turbo 1.
My car probably needs a new clutch and Neil has recommended I look into Helix - do you have any information you could give me on the one in your car?

Small company in High Wycombe- ‘Style-Dynamics’. They usually do ‘hot’ VWs and Audis etc but they’re real craftsmen, understood exactly what I wanted (not loud!) and have done a superb job.
