The fuel pump should fire up again on cranking & should stay running when the engine is running.
I can think i've ever seen published current draw figures but ball park should be around 5 amps if everything ok, 2 amps it has ran out of fuel, 8 amps+ there is a blockage or the pump is partially siezed. Remember there will be a bit of a surge when the pump first starts.

From the dim and distant past when I had in tank lift pump failure, the new replacement pulled 4.0A at 13.5V. Measured directly at the pump.

If the high pressure rail is not getting a minimum of 200bar at cranking speed the ECUs will not allow an engine start.

There is also the possibility of failure of the pressure regulator which is mounted on the end of the high pressure pump. This was highlighted by Peter N some years ago and is due to blocking of the microscopically fine filter in that regulator.

Regarding the growth of algae in the fuel tank, a dose of biocide from marine chandlers would be my preferred way to clear the low pressure fuel lines through to the fuel filter. This growth in the fuel tank is well known in leisure boating circles and is capable of blocking the fuel filter, resulting in consternation for the driver or the yacht skipper when the engine stops at an inopportune moment 8-[

Quick question. Noticed on Lexia that it states bonnet closed when it’s actually open.

Just trying this BSI reset procedure kindly posted by Wheeler.

However it states Bonnet Open but it’s reporting closed.

I cannot see a switch for the bonnet anywhere! Could someone guide me on this please?

It’s OK. Just found it. Looked everywhere under the open bonnet or so I thought.

I tried the BSI reset and no joy. I did notice that the bonnet was closed on the Lexia despite it being open. I can see some corrosion but not got to the bottom of it as yet so unclipped connector and shorted across wires and tried procedure again. No joy.

I am going to start a new thread on Lexia readings as something interesting happens. I will get there with help (hopefully)!
