So I’m not the only one!
I did give her a new fuel filter, oil change etc.
One of the main things that has allowed her to carry on this long is that I only use premium shell diesel (Vpower).
The question is - when cold - why is there in burned fuel in the exhaust at startup - but she settles down when warm?
I’m wondering why she chugs as if one or two cylinders aren’t ‘catching’. Could it be water getting into the combustion chamber?

A Diagnostic is you're friend (Diagbox), not a £20 off ebay one. Mine did this when the EGR was stuck, again an actuator test in Diagbox will confirm this.

As I also said, you need to get the codes read.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Re: 1.6 HDi Engine
I hear you both loud and clear.
What is the typical cost of getting a full diagnostic analysis done? I think this is the best way forward.
Another member had offered to lend me their lexia - but I don’t have the experience to use it. Is it something a computer literate person could do - or does a check require significant experience?
Can anyone recommend a fellow member of the community that might be willing to sort this out over a few beers?
