If stuck, any motor factor should be able to sort you out with a suitable soft-metal washer. Take the drain plug with you, if practicable.

Thank you everyone. I called the nearest Renault dealer and they said just any copper washer, but to be the safe side I'm going to pop in and grab a few from them. My gearbox oil is on order, so I'll be doing the oil change later this week.

Re: What Transmission Fluid Do I Need?
I visited my local dealer. They gave me a few copper crush washers for free which was good of them. I told them what car I had, and they confirmed that my gearbox is the JH3, so that's helpful. I'll be tacking the oil change tomorrow. Not only that, I'll be doing the cabin/pollen filter; on these cars, right hand drive, you must remove the clutch pedal and various switches attached to it. Apparently It is very fiddley due to reduced access in that location. Hopefully all goes well.

Re: What Transmission Fluid Do I Need?
Clutch pedal removed, filter swapped, reinstalled pedal, drained gearbox, filled up with fresh oil until it gushed out the fill port..... Waiting for the gush to turn into a slow drip and replaced the fill port. New washer on the sump drain plug too. Car seems to run fine. Gears work fine. Downshifting is a lot smoother too! Blower is more powerful due to better flow. All seems well.
