Knocking sound from the steering on 308 T9

Ok, so these type of racks with the electronic power steering are built on to the rack and aren't available separately from the looks of it.

The steering column should fit onto the pinion (see picture below:) 4 is the rubber seal.

Maybe this pinion is the issue on my car. I also have popping sound sometimes. And from information I could find, this is symptom of intermediate steering shaft. But this car does not have it.

In which section of service box did you find this rubber seal?

Would you please share where in the service box you found this image? I went over all sections and couldn't see anything like this.

It's not shown in Servicebox parts so is possibly supplied as part of a new rack. This is contained within the removal procedure.

Thanks, didn't occur to me to take a look at removal procedure. I see it now.

BTW, on another Peugeot forum where I posted this issue, member posted a video with exactly same sound on his car. He just noticed it and he will let me know what's the opinion of his mechanic so we'll see if there is some solution.

So, I know a lot of time passed since I posted this, but I am happy to report that issue is solved. Unfortunately, it was a problem with the electric steering rack. Nobody could discover what was the issue until I went to technical inspection and guys tested suspension on the ground. All other mechanics tested suspension while car was in the air.

Steering rack had mechanical issues and some issue with the motor, hence the sound inside and outside of the car. I found excellent mechanic in my country who did reparation and noise is gone, and steering is now perfect.

The cost of reparation was 220€.
