Re: Xantia Rev counter
A slap or three while doing 70 mph and a telling off calling it French merde and it’s working again. I may well also have threatened her with Shauns driving. I think that’s what did the trick to fix it lolol

You need to nudge it anti-clockwise. The trip knob does not pull out. I used a strand of old household telephone wiring to do the job. You might be able to use a single strand of copper from some automotive cable, it does not need much force.

Re: Xantia Rev counter
Glad you got it sorted. I had to do exactly this the first time the battery died on me.
Good call on telephone wire, that's probably ideal for the job. Was something in one of Abby's random craft supplies I found that worked for me.
Issue seems to be that the S2 panel has no return spring on the needles, it uses the stepper motor to move the needle both ways. However as there's no feedback and it assumes it's starting from zero, if it's flicked all the way around, you've had it.
Easiest way I found was to rather than try to get at the needle itself, but was to just flick the hub itself anticlockwise.
Don't remind me of the bloody Volvo B10M ping of death...still sometimes hear that in my head. W582RFS you have a lot to answer for. Yes... B10BLE...same hardware just the engine's in a different place. Same bloody ping...

It needs to be nudged anti-clockwise Davie - back toward zero...
It being that far round it's definitely best to pop the instruments out and do it by inverting them...

Glad you got it sorted, Davie. Nothing like a verbal blast and a quick rap. A job as Forum counsellor is yours for the asking.

Gabby must have had a chat with the 107. The threat of letting Shaun have her for a week seems to have had the most effect in getting her to work properly lol. I know she is getting a lot of use , 7000 miles in less than 4 months, that's about what she was used to in 4 years, but it is use, not abuse. She is handling it well. I will have to be nice to her now and give her a wash, she probably is filthier than she's ever been, struggling to see what colour she is!

I am so delighted at how Gabby is doing in your care Davie; she's certainly working hard but appears to be loving it
Long may it continue...
She sure is a good 'un

Re: Xantia Rev counter
I always wondered why mine has a small hole at the bottom of the dials, until my battery died and dials pinged around, discovered it is in the perfect position to poke in a bit of welding wire and flick the buggers back around! Git quite good at for a while as the battery was shot! Even managed to flick it back around on the exit ramp of the ferry in roscoff!
