I'm a bit disappointed that the new DS5 doesn't have the electric heating resistor as it's indispensable with how long a HDi takes to warm up. But I'm guessing that's a feature of the platform it's built on.

Snow mode on the gearbox appears to manifest itself in attempts to pull off in 2nd and 3rd if possible and to never use the lockup clutch. It's a super smooth way to drive and you get an idea how oldschool slush-boxes used to be with no lock up.

I reckon I'm even more disappointed than you! Not sure if I'll get a chance to use the snowmode in Surrey. In fact, I'm not sure I want to get a chance!

My memories of rural Surrey (Milford) included plenty of icy stretches and snow. Left there in 2004.
Also remember using Snow mode, on a Xantia 1.8i auto, to provide a nice gentle crawl in M25 snarl-ups.

I'm up in commuterville. We had about 2 mm of snow one morning last year near Woking.
Were about 8 minutes from the M25, which is my very favourite road. .
I suspect the few miles south into the Godalming area would bring more chance of snow.

Hindhead seems to get it bad - but that is quite high up for around here. It's surprising the difference a few miles from here makes. Fernhurst - only about 5 miles north of here but the other side of the hills - can get a lot more than we do.

Is snow motion the snowflake button near the gear stick? Or is it a special optional extra or something?

It wasn’t introduced until about 2010 onwards and if installed will have the words ‘Snow Motion’ written in the gear surround.

Get someone to check the pollen filter isn't blocked. Ignore what the mechanic said.

My recently bought Picasso had a dismal heating and ventilation system. The filters had apparently been changed in March this year according to the bills. They clearly hadn't and by the state of them were original. Replacing them resolved the problem.

Had the same on my Berlingo, my Puma, my Cougar and one C5 Mk1. It's the first place I'd look

It's gonna have to wait till after the holidays. I 've too much fetching and carrying to do for the next couple of weeks. Probably have to purchase some Torx screw drivers too.

Gibbo2286 has sent me a module (I also, before he made the offer, had ordered one), and I will fit it as soon as it arrives. I will sent the old one off to CitroJim for investigation as to whether they are amenable to repair.

If its the same as this one (black covers have been removed removed) then yes easy to repair, I just changed the little black bit with 3 legs, think its a transistor ?? sorry not really an electronics person. The board just unclips off the heatsink, desolder the old one off & re solder the new one on. I just punched in the numbers off the transistor? into ebay & found a replacement.

Tried the "snow /frost mode " button this morning as the roads were a touch slippery. Couldn't get lower than third gear! I didn't push it but even a quick shove on the throttle didn't change down below 3rd..
