Ok, so if you have the VIN for that vehicle, pop it up for me and I'll have a check for you.

It looks like it does indeed share the same system as the early C3's, the only electrical part listed separately is the power steering ECU, These are generally pretty reliable though.
There are companies out there (like BBA reman) that will refurb or repair these.
