I well remember the first time I opened the tailgate on my original C5 and couldn't believe how far away the back of the rear seat was from me.

But... it didn't take long to become completely accustomed to the size. The rear parking sensors helped no end when reversing.

I think I'll try cleaning the switches first rather than risk a bsi reset just yet.

Hi, The foldback function is driver selectable and you may have inadvertently changed te mirrors operation whilst adjusting them. Switch no.1 on the mirror switch does this .
From memory push towards the rear folds back and a second push towards the rear returns them to the original position. The auto foldback can be disabled by a lengthy push on switch1.
Your vehicle may not have come with a handbook which describes this but there is a section on mirrors and one of the later pages details this operation, the same system is used on later vehicles with the higher level trim.
Hope this assists

The mirrors are totally dead, no adjustment anywhere although the windows all work from the driver's door switches. I can only find one live feed and that is the purple wire. Not having a wiring diagram means I can't trace anything without stripping it all out. I'm not ready for that yet and hopefully will try a bsi reset tomorrow.

Try the reset first and welcome to the world of C5 electrics. Always wise to wait before and after disconnecting power to the ECUs on these cars.

If you need the wiring diagrams PM your VIN.

I have to ask - but you've moved the switch to both left and right positions and tried to move the directional switch in both positions? When centring the main switch and then pulling it back and forwards the mirrors don't fold?
Assuming nobody has changed anything with Lexia, the fuse would be the next check.

Yes checked all switches Marc. When I test drove the car the mirrors adjusted and folded ok, not a peep now. I don't know which fuse it is, can't find anything in the handbook but the window fuse is ok and they are all working.

Ok, so 6036 is the Driver's control panel. There is a 6 pin black connector of which only 3 wires are used. - bottom of the Principle diagram. These go to the door units and from there to the BSI. I've traced back the wires and it looks like Fuse F9 to me in the BSI unit containing the passenger compartment fuses.

F9 INSIDE the bsi unit Marc? Out at the mo so will check on return. Thanks much appreciated. Oh I also noticed the oil level indicator shows a series of dashes on start up and also the oil temperature gauge not working. I checked the oil level and its on the max mark.
