It is charging (if the lightning symbol to the right of the battery is what I think it is).

Was it activated? The whole lot need to be done - it can't be fitted and left. A new one will need to be paired with the system and then on these, in my experience the whole lot will need to be done with the Lexia and the Exciter.

Didn't know it had to be activated. Beginning to think I would have been better off getting a car with less gizmos!

How much is a Lexia diagnostics to buy?

About the same as 1 diag session at the dealers! No brainer really, although it may test your IT skills getting it to run. It won't work in 64bit Windows, nor any version of Win 10, so if you've got one of those you need to run it in a virtual machine.

All new cars registered from 1st Jan 2012 are now required to have a TPMS system and its part of the MOT I believe from 2015 for these cars. If you don't have an exciter, it might be worth getting a quote from the main dealer to do it on this occasion or another Competent garage...

An 'exciter'?

There's a 2 stage process - one is 'learning' the new or replaced TPMS sensor to the actual car's systems using the Lexia - this ensures the sensor is recognised and that the whole TPMS system is working properly and then there is the 'exciter' tool that activates the actual sensor which works in conjunction with the Lexia to do this.

There's a bit here about it if you're interested!

Drove the car for about 10min yesterday and a message popped up saying tyre sensor not responsive which was not great shock. However, at this point the other three sensors worked. When I switch the car off again and pressed the 'check' button they all showed blank readings as before!

Once you have the new sensor coded and activated all should return to normal.
