No, maybe Citroen didn't but I know of a 04 plate 407 with the 16v engine in it Paul...

Paired up with a lovely 4HP20 I rebuilt when it had covered well over 200K...

Love to know what happened to that HP20 Paul as 30K is a very low mileage. Was that after a refurb? OP - sorry for the short hijack... It often happens on here ;)

I think the previous owner prior to its current one did a bodge job and when it was put is possibly a second hand box and also never had a fluid change due to the dry diff or sealed diff if you like.
I noticed a bolt missing on the engine mount.. and theres the flywheel plate issue catching the block. All very strange.

Ahh, there you go. Absolutely no bodging allowed on an HP20 under any circumstances... I want to talk further about it Paul but not in this thread and not now.. We'll catch up at some point and have a good natter about it...

I don't know you're engine at all but our work pickup did the same recently. Cured mostly by fitting a new turbo pipe then completely with a fuel filter. Is the car recently serviced? I'd be inclined to spend £10 on a fuel filter before looking for a fault.

Another 400 mile done and same again. Hearing quite a loud whistle from the turbo than I'm pretty sure wasn't there before. Never owned a car with a turbo so not sure if it's my paranoia or if there's an issue there.

Anyone know of common symptoms of the 2.0 Hdi turbo failing?

My turbo whistles quite well and it's nothing to worry about... I'd suspect yours is nothing to worry about either... Often a whistle may point to a boost leak but generally on late 'clever' diesels like yours even the smallest boost leak will kill performance and raise a fault code in the ECU...

It may be worth having your car diagnosed on Peugeot Planet and seeing if any boost related faults are recorded.. If all clear there's nothing to worry about...

Is it still losing power? Whistling is normal, you'll grow to like it as the boost grows with the whistle. Losing power at the same time is very abnormal and will have an underlying issue.

If you look back through the post I described the power loss. It's very intermittent and 'spluttery' for want of a better word

Unfortunately outside of my expertise. I never buy diesels with any more tech than a cat on them. If you haven't managed a Lexia/Planet session yet it's usually a good starting point with the more modern engines.
