Re: C5 heater blower/fan stopped working
On mine at least I can hear them a minute or so after turning off - I am presuming the flaps are closing but it could be something else.

Re: C5 heater blower/fan stopped working
On a previous C5 Tourer this happened to me on my return from a 3 month trip to IndoChina. It's happened again today on my current C5 on my return from a 7 week trip to France. Last time it was diagnosed as a stuck fan and the mechanic at my local dealer gave it a thump and it was free. He's not there now and no one knows where to hit. Have you any ideas on how to free a stuck fan please?

Re: C5 heater blower/fan stopped working
Hi,
I have same problem. 2009 C5 Estate 2.2HDI. But so far have investigated:
1. Replaced blower motor and still does not work at all.
2. Tried both (my old and replacement motors) to work on 12vdc power supply and them both are spinning.
3. Measured with multi-meter (while car is running) blower motor plug and reading 13.69vdc
So just wondering what is going on? Does motor speed controlled by voltage (via resistor pack)? Because when I try to adjust fan speed on my console voltage in plug does not change and stays always at 13.69vdc...
Can anyone explain please how exactly does it work and what is my next step.
Many Thanks,
Vincent

Hi Vincent - do you have the dual or mono zone system - or better still your VIN?

Re: C5 heater blower/fan stopped working
Note: C5 X7 only!
The system utilises a digital Blower Control Module, pictured below:
The digital air blower control module permits control of the air blower motor in relation to a reference value. The signal is an OCR (Opening Cyclic Ratio) type digital signal. The value of the cyclic ratio of the control signal makes it possible to define the power requested by the vehicle’s passengers.
I would get it checked with Lexia first, to see if there are any other fault codes being returned before replacing the unit - but this is one of the likely culprits.
If this has failed, then the backup mode kicks in where the Auto function remains, but any pressing of the blower speed does nothing.

Re: C5 heater blower/fan stopped working
That's the type fitted to my X7. I have a long and personal relationship with it and can now take it out of the car in under two minutes.
It first went wrong (lost all blow) about a year ago and I took it out and gave it a good looking at to see if anything was obvious. I was that close to buying another one when I thought I'd just plug it back into the loom (I hadn't even screwed it back into the heater casing) and the bugger worked. I had sprayed the contacts with, err, contact cleaner so maybe it was that.
It ran fine for half a year or so and then the puff stopped again. I took the unit out and gave it another close inspection and sprayed some more contact cleaner but this time there was no improvement. I had a look around for a replacement and located one at a breakers about 40 miles away. I rang them up and they said that they would take it out for me. Great, I said, I'll be down later this afternoon. That was when they said it would have to wait its turn as there were other customers in front of me. I said that it only took a couple of minutes but that didn't make any difference. As I was due to leave for France the following morning I had to put the old control unit back and, guess what, it worked of course. And has continued to work since then which was last April (I last drove my car three weeks ago as we're on holiday so I hope it'll work when we get back).
So try plugging and unplugging it from the loom a few times; you may find it'll come back to life. After all mine has - twice.

Aren't PSA electrical connectors and module joints just wonderful? Quite a long tradition now...

Yes, my experience has made me wonder how many of these, and similar items, have been replaced when all they needed was reseating.white exec wrote: 12 Aug 2018, 21:47 Aren't PSA electrical connectors and module joints just wonderful? Quite a long tradition now...![]()

Re: C5 X7 heater blower/fan stopped working
Hi , hopefully someone can help, blower fan packed up for a few days then worked normally. It packed in again, that's over a week. I changed the control module, that made no difference what else can I try to get it working again. C5 X7 64 plate dual zone. There is one thing I've noticed, when starting the car the driver side temp display set at low the small dot flashes about four times does it mean anything Regards John.
