Many years ago when I did diesel conversions there were no stop solenoids, you had to connect the redundant choke cable to the stop lever, this transmitted a lot of noise up the the dashboard so I didn't usually bother,. the standard way of stopping was to put it into gear and stall it.

Had this problem on a Land Rover 200tdi with a Bosch pump. When I partially stripped the pump I found some metal debris that was stopping the cut off valve from seating properly. I fear the metal debris is an indication of problems elsewhere in the fuel system.

Part number 1680 85 at £113.06 OUCH!!!

Or if its a Bosch pump 1680 95 at a more reasonable £83.80 (inc VAT) One for the Land Rover is about £8

Find a local diesel specialist and ask them. That's what I did with my ZX 10 years ago. It cost me about £20 including fitting! I recall the same part from the dealer was more than the car was worth !

Thanks people! I've sourced a Bosch replacement (1680.95) at £36. Not too bad although true to citroen form, three times on Saturday and she's not ran on once since! Never mind ... it'll go in the spares box for the time being. Next episode and it will be in there (assuming i'm capable).
