Hello All

I need to resurrect that thread.
Heated seat stopped working again after nearly 10 month of ownership.

It seems the heating element is the weak point.
Is it known who makes it?
Are one fitted to the DS5 are of a better quality (it seems they share some of the parts)

Has anyone tried to go non OEM?

Cheers

Jack

I would think there is a known lifespan , and 10 months would indicate that they have been incorrectly fitted............

I would keep at Citroen myself

I don't really like a warm derrière! I rarely use mine except for in the really freezing winter mornings, so probably not had mine on for more than 10 times ever and mine's an 09 - so I would expect yours to have lasted a lot longer Harry.

My back doesn't like the cold, it has a tendency to "freeze"...
So the heated seat are quite useful for me in that prospect

I will get back to Citroen

I'd keep that quiet Jack as they might say that they're not intended for frequent use in that case! :-D

the failure rate of those heated seats are quite high which is a shame because my wife's Honda Civis after 15 years are still going strong.

Have you tested yours lately? What about making a trial tonight?

I never like over-using anything - as I have an inbuilt fear of things breaking! :-D I already have a stress when front passengers adjust the electric seats and inadvertently scroll the heated seat wheel on - which of course I only find out when I'm cleaning the car mats and then go into panic mode! I'm glad they at least have a timer on, but could do with a stiffer roller switch to make it more difficult to switch on.

That's now got me thinking about that spare tube of superglue I had lying about.... (not being tight or anything you understand)! :-D

Well that's good to know John. At least they don't seem to be a common early failure - maybe you had a duff one or it's not been fitted properly as Sticky says Jack ....

Well they have stopped working again...
I wonder if there is an issue with the supply to the seat ( fuse board issue maybe).
I will update when I have further news.

I'd be interested to know the cost of getting the heated seat fixed. On my 2008 model, the drivers botty warmer is the only thing that doesn't work. The passenger on is fine, but that's really not much help to me!!

Hello

They started working again!

The ball park figure is £1200+VAT.

I would suggest looking into an afatermarket unit which would cost a lot less.

My car is still under guarantee, so I will send it back to the dealer again to have it fixed.
I am thinking that it maybe not a problem with the elements.
