I thought I'd update the thread. First of all, thanks for all the advice, it's reminded me how brilliant this forum is.

I had a good poke and prod at all the accessible wiring under the dash. Nothing was obviously loose but when I took the dog out for her walk today, there was no sign of the clicking. Fingers crossed, it's resolved.

Actually, I did find a feather in there. That could have been the culprit I guess. ;-)

Did you take you glove box out? - How? Tried to get mine out and failed so gave up......for now!
