If you ever see it you will see what I mean!
Speaking of insurance I'm away to drop the Renault off to its new owners before the insurance on it finishes at noon.

Re: Insurance For Younger Drivers
You could do worse than have a look att the Moneysavingexpert page on how to deal with the comparison sites and how to get a cheaper quote:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/car-insurance/
There's some good info on there.

Re: Insurance For Younger Drivers
I can hardly remember the old fashioned way now, pre internet all seemed so much easier perversely enough.
For probably 20 odd years I stayed with the same insurance company, and actually had an "insurance person" who sorted it out with a quick phonecall. House buildings and contents as well. Probably a far better model for the Company as well, create a good personal relationship with the customer, treat them well and enjoy long-term stable business.
Can't remember what precipitated the change but I suspect the Company modernised, got rid of the "person", started using the annual renewal as an opportunity to screw the existing customer for the maximum increase, relying on previous years customer loyalty and inertia.
I now change every year whether I need to or not, and have no loyalty whatsoever to any of the companies I use. Other things which annoy and alienate the customer are such things as the list of additional charges should you wish to change details on your policy for any reason. These "money for nothing " fees and services are rife across many financial services of course, and in the area of leasing and renting of property just about at their worst.
- back to your original request Jim, the fitting of a monitoring device in the car by the insurance company can reduce premiums. You might think that this could just be an excuse to hit you with later higher charges for deviant driving which you would find it difficult to disprove if the "computer say". It proved to be no problem, and maybe encourages a bit of more careful driving. I was also on the policy as a named driver which did reduce the first premium as well, and I used to get a dire warning every time I borrowed the car not to brake sharply and drive too fast! To be honest I was more conscious of that when I drove the car, as opposed to jumping in my own.
regards Neil

I've used confused.com for the past few years too. I do get an email approximately once a week from them but that goes straight in the bin.

Re: Insurance For Younger Drivers
confused.com and comparethemarket are the big 2.
Have used confused for years and tried comparethemarket a couple of years ago. Never had any unwanted phone calls or texts as a result.
I do get e-mails every now and again now, which I think is from when I used comparethemarket, but that's easily enough deleted. I assume I have set up preferences to say don't share and use for marketing etc. (that's what I'm always careful to do, just it was so long ago that I can't remember!)
Phone and text I would go apeshit about if that happened, some element of e-mail crap is unfortunately par for the course
