Mine's not like the ones mentioned in the thread: it is the peristaltic motor-driven sort, as I had to repair it by replacing the tube which had hardened and ceased to pump.
A pal who worked in a hospital managed to find a length of very flexible plastic tubing. The diameter is critical.
This system means that no water goes anywhere the motor.
