The 1.6 certainly will have a good bit more go, if i remember it has 110 hp to the 1.4's 75hp, itl be much nicer to drive, however if i remember correctly it loses almost 10MPG and rises a couple of tax bands which from what your saying would be quite a significant increase in cost. When you choose steer clear of a 'L' model, it is very basic and loses aircon amongst other things whilst the next model 'LX' has perfectly sufficient kit, sam

Well I have purchased a Xsara 1.4 5door hatch.
It was immaculate inside, and pretty near perfect outside, bar a crack in the rear bumper, down low.

2001, 96k miles.

My AX 1.5D sold within 2 days.
