My first Activa used to make a vibrating noise on accelerator lift off and I found links on the web etc. which explained that it was characteristic of a failing top engine mount.

The top mount is a complicated arrangement. With the bonnet up and you infront of the car the mount is roughly on the left between the sphere and the timing belt cover.

When I got my second Activa (now owned by Citroenmad) the previous owner proudly told me that he'd changed the top engine mounting because of a vibrating noise (at between 2000 to 3000 rpm on lift off).

Hope this helps.
Cheers, Kev

Thanks Kev - really appreciate that! Any idea if it's an expensive job?

Cheers,

Including fitting??? :-) Hmmmm

I guess you're assuming I can do the job myself... haha!

I'll seek out a Citroen garage and ask em.

Ah, cool - cheers! Will seek out a local Citroen specialist to do it. Certainly not going anywhere near a main dealer! :-)

i have this problem with my activa and someone told me it could be the turbo stalling or even spinning back1
as the exhaust gasses build up the pressure and has no wayof excaping this can cause these problems.
this is what i was told could be wrong. any thoughts on that anyone.

Hi!

In my case, the guys here were totally spot on with the strange noise. Had the top engine mount (the one next to the bulkhead) replaced and it was fine after that.

Took my mate about ten minutes to do - the part cost me £28 from a Citroen dealer.

The old mount was in a terrible state on removal - it was all cracked and loose.

Get the bottom mount looked at as well in that case - chances are it's gone soft. You'll kill the top mount in a matter of months if the bottom mount isn't up to scratch.
