Hey Steve, what a glorious car that Sunbeam Talbot coupe is!

How did we ever end up with all these non-descript tin boxes we have nowadays? Was it the robbing executives or the narrow-minded accountants in the motor companies?

Hardly any car manufacturer dares to be different, or original, these days.
Shareholders have to be catered for and they get uppity if the company drops a few market points.

Bristol is an example but they really weren't that interested in actually selling cars.

Look how the flair and originality of Citroen has been diluted throughout the recent past, although as someone here said, at least they are still producing cars which would not have been the case if Peugeot hadn't taken them by the throat and read them the riot act.

What the hell was anyone ever thinking of when they exchanged their hard earned cash for a Talbot Tagora, its ugly as hell, rusty from new and more than likely a bad car to live with.
The car Chrysler designed it to replace was awefull too, i hope your suitably ashamed of yourself Paul

Absolutely lovely cars the Sunbeam Talbot 90 Convertible! Dad had one a while back and I can distinctively remember that brilliant exhaust note that it had!

I like the Tagora! Admittedly it is ugly, but we had Talbots before Citroens all those years ago, so I have a soft spot for them.

Its an ugly car designed by chrysler and bought by PSA who sold 3.........
I? love a weird car as much as the next but some are just utter rubbish.

I put new seals in the master cylinder. One of those terrible, bizarre anachronisms non-Hydraulic Citroens have to operate the brakes...

Anyway, I pushed the piston, equipped with new seals, into the bore and a jet of brake fluid spurted out, straight into my eye

Girlfriend of the time rushed me to casualty in my then brand-new Turbo Metro...

Following extensive irrigation and lots of heavy talk from docs , the eye was OK and touching wood with my white stick, still is...

Fantastic story!

I have one too. Perhaps we ought to have a 'tell us your hilarious stories of getting brake fluid in eyes' Sticky. For Health and Safety purposes, of course, you understand!

I was doing something on my old Harley back in the mid 90's and I noticed that the stainless steel braided rear brake hose and frayed at one point along its length.

So I pressed the pedal and a bubble expanded out so I called to the girlfriend to come and have a look because that's the kind of thing men think they will find REALLY interesting - or is it just ME?

She was standing by me and I bent over and leaned down to press the brake pedal with my hand.

The bubble and grew until it burst on one of the frayed ends. BOOM!

Brake fluid vapour in my eyes. I ran screaming, blind and in agony into the house, not sure now if I banged my head on the outside kitchen door, up to the sink and stuck my eyes under running cold water.

I looked like Christopher Lee in Dracula. Boy oh boy were my eyes bright red.

So I can only assume that you must have had a fun journey being driven to the hospital!

It's funny when you 'look' back.

there are cough, cough, other forums where these things are appreciated.

I have one of only about ten 604s left. The 604 was the first turbo diesel sold in Europe and of all of the 604s left in the UK only one is a turbo diesel. I would like to know who owns it.

Yes the 604, which is virtually the same car, is also a nice piece of Kit, getting the PRV with the tripple carb too...

The TD 604 had the "Sierra" 2.3 lump, which of course I know, Fraud borrowed it from Peugeot but it wasn't Blown in the Sierra, it was in the 604.

The 505 was another step up, with the 2.5 Pug unit (NOT to be confused with the S2 XM 2.5 unit) which was also turbo'd..

All nice stuff, mostly and sadly gone now...
