Cant imagine there is much lubrication in coolent?

Its just the same with fuels, modern fuels, especially cheaper brands, lack some lubricating factors which cars need. Fuel additives (not forte, they dont make fuel additives) provide these extra lubricating factors.

Coolant has a "soluble oil" in it, in addition to agents which reduce surface tension (wetters).

As to the admixture revered above - it makes me think of that old pseudo Latin rhyme; third and fourth lines below:

Cæsar sic in omnibus,
Brutus sic inat

Used K-seal in my xantia about 10 months ago for possible head gasket problem. Coolant was starting to disappear from system at alarming rate. Hasn't lost a drop since. Was very impressed.

Forte do make fuel additives, you are more likely to find them than the cooling system additive.

If I had knowna about K-Seal before now. Now my HEad gasket is truelly knackered as it loses 1ltr of coolant every trip. More or less.
