Ive heard track insurance can be quite costly, so probably worth going without, though it depends on how much people are wanting to push their cars.

Ah, can we make this sooner rather than later, ill be needing tyres shortly

How many more PSI is advisable for track use? Out of curiosity.

A recent oil change might also be an idea too.

Im actually quite looking forward to this ...

These things often split into factions.

I see it as a good chance for intelligent experimentation. Others want to be competitive.

Your results may well vary from others. So long as someone has a GOOD tyre gauge and 12V pump, you can experiment away. Knowing how much pressure goes up with heat in your specific case, is again a useful tool if you have a pyrometer or tyre thermometer to measure it.

I'm sure other clubs who regularly host track events, can point you at their insurance broker. You could also look at a shared day with another specialised interest club - pick fast cars, and agree to the same number of laps each - not track hours!

This sounds like a great idea. I'm defiantly interested. :D

I'll invite the guys from B&L maybe they would bring along one of their famous V6 Activas!
Robert if your reading this, you know it makes sense ;)

My advice would be to start at a 10% increase over standard as a minimum , the most suitable increase depends on type of tyre and vehicle.

XantiaMan583 wrote:Anyone up for Snetterton? Yes, interested with good notice. I wanted to go this year but ran out of time. I would need to ensure my front hydractive valve is working properly, and the steering wheel angle sensor as i can hear a plastic clicking noise when turning the wheel, but apart from that its good to go...
That plastic clicking noise should mean you have had the steering wheel off, and the RADIO buttons control membrane circular thing is in the WRONG position and is turning past its stop points...

Ive had this before when I had one 180 deg out..

That would give my C5 a rough PSi of 40PSi front and 34 rear with an increase of 10%. Sounds a lot. As standard is 36/31, though im running them at 33/31 at the moment, as i prefer them a little softer.

Though i know it all depends on the cars, tyres and speeds too.

It will certainly be a fun day, ive never driven on a track before, though ive always wanted to take my own car on one. Ill be more interested watching other Citroens go round i think.

Has anyone got any thoughts on a good location for us all to get to?

It seems a high pressure but the main problem is shoulder wear and overheating. The extra pressure supports this area of the tyre.
Activa's may probably suffer less due to lack of roll.

My recommendation for choice of circuit would be Donington or oulton Park.

I understand the reason for more pressure, no doubt it would also give beeter steering resoponse too. It will be interesting to see what works on the day

Either of those would be ok, as they are pretty central. I have not been to either, though they should be fairly easy for most people to get to.

Having one of each hydraulic model would be nice to see, anyone wanting to go with a BX?

Here is a map of the Uk circuits:

I may be interested in this too. Wouldn't mind hammering my 1.9td on the track for a bit, see what times i can get tuned and untuned etc.

There is a good track here on Anglesey fifth gear are often there, not exactly close to everyone but just an idea.

I will keep an eye on this thread.

I'd love to do this, but whether I'll have the funds or the permission is another matter... :(

Unfortunately Donington is in bits, and is likely to remain that way. I've read that it will cost £4m just to fill in the holes to complete a lap. Sad.

Donington should be sorted out for next season. Best time of the year for a trackday is spring to early summer , race circuits in the cold and wind are depressing places to be !!

Not so sure. See this.

I like the look of that Anglesey circuit - quite tight and twisty - good Activa territory. I suppose Donington would be the most central if it's fixed.

At least if we all went to Anglesea we'd have Paul (Citroenxm) there as a kind of pitcrew and emergency source of spares :D

It's was done up last year or the one before at the cost of millions, to be honest I don't go there often enough, been on it with my cousin in his evo and it's very nice indeed, got a good mix of everything,
