v6 xantia on ebay ...

Its a comparison, on my old girl and the V6, HOWEVER, there is a difference in glass pattern from 1992 - 94 cars and later cars.. not really studied the lamp glasses to be honest..

Early and late MK1 headlamps are different Martin, the late ones being considerably better. I'm not sure when the changeover was made though.

All MK1 V6s will have the later headlamps. My Activa (on a P plate has them too and also has the relay mod . This improves the headlights considerably.

Talking about ebay v6's, my pal bought that magenta LPG one that appeared
a while back in Exeter. Just picked it up yesterday evening and it's a really
nice car. The damp in the front footwell wasn't a failed matrix apparently but
a split header tank under the bonnet with water blowing through the intake
throat into the vents.

An early series car on a later registration letter by two years is probably down
to it being a 'dodge' by Citroen UK who registered it as one of their fleet before
selling it on two month's later - probably found it in their factory forgotten
about in a corner somewhere!

Off-topic; Following a visit with my sister to buy a new (pre-registered) car, we were told there's a government financial incentive (bribe) to register a certain number per period. Obviously it's worth more than the £2000 my sister saved on the list price!

Was that Xantia at one of the recent CCC car meets? as I recall a dodgy V6 for sale there. Other than the colour I don't think there's much going for it, high mileage* and potential problems.

I gotta say style wise I think the mk2 is much nicer looking both inside and outside, yes the rear heater control is in a bizzar place, but I'll raise you horn control on the mk1, can't stand horn control being on stick. Radio control on the mk2 are much easier to use also.
I will say one thing I do prefer the mk1 for is the seats and seating position, don't know what is different but something is and its much nicer than the mk2, on that basis alone, my next Xantia will be a mk1, despite all the other bits I dont like....

Still I think it will be many a year before me and the Green Goblin part ways.

*That high mileage for the gearbox not the engine\overall car.

Hmm some interesting comparisons and certain assumptions... As an previous owner of an 'R' reg brand new and then an 'X' reg brand new I consider myself a) qualified to comment and b) extremely privelaged to have owned two V6 Xantia's.
Lighting:- V6 98 S1 lights were not the same as the S2 and yes the S2 are very good at least in comparison with the S1
Seating:- I think the S1 seats were better because 1) adjustable side supports (but no air bags) and rear seats had head restraints smaller than the front seats so didn't impede rear visibility as much as the S2.
Dash Panel:- Personal pref. S1 instuments.. I prefer to have an oil temp guage instead of a useless indicator telling me which gear I know I have selected! I think the heated rear screen button on the stalk end is quite 'natty' and of course the S2 has more glovebox and a passenger airbag. And of course.. no more code to input.. I believe all V6 S2's had a sunroof.

Not sure if the LPG Exeter ebay v6 made it to some Citroen meetings but
the mileage is around the 120k possibly 'about to go pop' age!

I've certainly seen more s1 V6's without sunroofs and I'm sure I've seen a
s2 or two without an opening lid.

I hate having the horn on the centre of the steering wheel - stupid place
and a bugger to toot thankyou's to people when they give way to you etc;
far easier on a stalk end.

my only gripe with my s2's has been the seating position, i think it would be helped a lot of the steering column was telescopic

I've never thought about it before now, I wonder if an Xm column would fit a
Xantia...

It's telescopic as well as rake adjusted! I'll check out some steering
columns I have in the garage now!!

i suppose it depends on the system used in the two, i am guessing a xantia will have torque tube with light sensors, and hydractives have the steering angle sensor. would be cool if they are compatible

Good lord!

The Xant and Xm columns are close enough that further investigation will
need to be called for. The 4 mounting points on each are the same distance
apart and at similar points/length along the column and the similarities
continue to the point where the spline on the end swivel by the bulkhead.
looks the same.

The extention on the Xm column is obviously self contained and as far
as sensors on the steering head at the swivel on the radio/airbag go I
guess speed sensor should be doable on the hydractive Xantia and Xm.

Mind, this raises implications about whether the Xm head would demand
fitment of the wide paddle type Xm stalks - now you may not like these!!

I'm pretty sure the Xm column would fit but would expect the position of
the wheel to adjust more towards the driver's seat than further away
compared to the Xantia set up.

Now there's a thought. A single spoke Xm leather trimmed wheel on a Xantia.
There's already a long waiting list with Xm drivers for these to begin with!
