Thats good, it allows you to run biodiesel for around 22k miles before declaring tax if you average 40mpg...
2500 litres x 0.22 = 550 gallons
550 x 40 mpg = 22k
so the tax is mostly for big businesses... i.e couriers, hauliers... unless your unfortunate enough to have a turbo diesel that only averages 20mpg and you do over 11k, in which case, bad luck.

These are Sunday's prices but Morrisons was cheapest at £1.67 for 3l. Sainsbury's had £1.98 but were matching Tesco's £1.69 price! Oddly enough I usually find Tesco has all but run out of 3l bottles, but Morrisons and Sainsbury's often have a large stock. Asda is usually pretty good too (both price and stock) but I don't get to an Asda very often.
During a normal week I get through about 40l of diesel/veg a week.
I haven't ever come accross the 25l drums mentioned on the forum (Tesco I think). Are these available on the shelf at the largest stores?

At my local hypermarket, they are stacked in a different location to the usual oils but at another supermarket I haven't seen them.davek-uk wrote:I haven't ever come accross the 25l drums mentioned on the forum (Tesco I think). Are these available on the shelf at the largest stores?
They're in a sort of "world food section" and they're stacked high up, just look for largish tin drums with KTC on them or ask a worker.

The KTC drums at our tescos only hold 15L and are the same price as 20L worth from Costco.

I think I just panicked when I saw the tesco price.
Heartened by everyones responses on prices. I have since been to Asda twice & its still £1.67 for 3litres.
Happy bunny.

Just a quick update, Costco oil per 20L has also gone up.
For a 20L plastic drum, it used to be £10.47, its now gone up to £11 something, its about £2 cheaper than what it is at tescos.
So either they are now in it for a quick buck as they know people are fueling there cars with the stuff, or something else happened.
