HDi key problem

Hi All,
Recently bought an SX Cit Xantia series 2, S reg with the ordinary 1.9TD engine.( another one, yeah, I know---glutton )

. It had one key, but no plip bit. The car recognises the immobilizer part, cos it starts and the key symbol on dash works. I bought a key from fleabay( which is was working fine, ?), but can't get it to synchro with the alarm. Car has flashing led in door, volumetric sensors and a swith to turn them off at right side of dash,-surely they wouldn't have put that lot in without the alarm bit ?
I can't get alarm to work with just the key ( with the IR type, the alarm couldn't be set without the plip) , so I take it that the same case applies here. I have tried all the tricks gleaned from this forum to get it all working, to no avail. Is it a trip to Citroen .
The central locking and deadlocks work ok.

Citrojim if you want i can see if i can get a friend who works for pug to do it cheaper without the agro if you wish???

Gregg1100- the keys & remotes on a mk2 xantia can only be programed using a diagnostic computer.
not 100% but i dont think you can re program a key/remote (from a mk2) to the car if it has previously been coded to another car.

Hi,,
I have only now got the plip--the key being removed as it is no good for my car. Just needed the plip working to get alarm working.
