Well I look at it this way, if you pay £450 for a belt change and next week the pump springs a leak you'll be in for another £450. I had my pump changed because it was beginning to weep, you might find that when yours is apart it is doing the same as this is a common fault. Your mechanic should advise on what's neccesary when he gets it all apart.

I think the concensus is to change the pump and tensioner pulleys at the same time for the very reason that Stempy has just stated. I had them all done on the 405 and when checked the pump had a slight weep. But I think the idiot tightened the alternator belt too much because I have a high pitch noise from that area now which I think is alternator bearings.

When I changed the cambelt on my TD I also changed the auxillary belt and even with the tensioner backed right off it felt ridiculously tight!!!

My V6 is in for it's cambelt change today so I'm keeping everything crossed.... They have given me a C3 courtesy car.... quite impressed, never sat in one before, quite a 'jiggly' ride but Isuppose I've been spoilt by Hydropneumatics. Oh yes! Modern Citroen is now called Dryden Citroen and has definately improved it's 'back street garage' image.

All done... mine has the later water pump and was advised that it didn't need changing. However, the 'experience' was slightly spoilt by a phone call from the garage saying that both my front and rear brake discs were 'corroded' and did I want them changed........ My rear discs were changed in January, my front discs and pads were changed in April...

Oh well!

Did you tell them how long they had been on after they offered to change them?

Apparently it is standard practice 'because it might not come into them again for at least another 12k miles' so they advise changing them 'just in case'.......
